How did facebook.com get to the #1 position?

How did it jump from quite a bit down the ranks to #1 in such a short period of time? I'm not saying it's not popular and maybe shouldn't be there, but aren't the numbers underneath the interests supposed to represent how many people have signed up for that as an interest? And, isn't it a fair assumption to say that not everyone uses facebook? So, how is it that facebook has 120,000 MORE PEOPLE signed up for it as an interest than there are people who are MEMBERS on myLOT????? Has anyone else noticed this? Does someone maybe have a program that was able to manipulate those numbers? Has myLot even noticed this? Or am I just slowly losing it? (You don't really need to agree with that last one, though.) I just thought I'd toss this question out there to see if I'm the only one who's seen this and wondered.

Ok, to specifically answer your question. From the numbers I see on my screen the MyLot population is listed as 141,580 people. 641 of those members have Facebook listed as an interest. I'm not sure where you got your numbers from. As far as it being #1...where are you seeing this at exactly?

Do you mean Facebook is the #1 interest on mylot or...? I joined myspace ages ago because my friends where on it, so my boyfriend and I both signed up but neither of us really enjoyed it. Now were both on facebook, we found old friends and family members we don't see often that we can keep in touch with which is great. Unlike facebook, You can don't have to bother decorating your profile, you can have as little or as much stuff on there as you like, and it's much more fun. Not only can you keep in touch with others, There's also various applications (probably too many in all honest - but that means choice!) which can be added to your profile and because there's so many different one's, there's bound to be something for everyone to help pass the time. True, not everyone uses Facebook but not everyone uses Mylot either. I would say it's fair to say that more people use Facebook than they do Mylot because more and more people are being invited to join Facebook each day. So, though I'm not really sure if that's the answer you were looking for, in answer to your question, it's not really that suprising that it's #1.

I do specify in the discussion that I mean as an interest on myLot, not as compared to myLot and I don't mention MySpace at all, so I'm not referring to that either. Please re-read the discussion and you'll see what I'm referring to.

I thought thats what you meant but it was confusing in parts. Like I said, I'm really not suprised it's managed to get to #1 in such a short space of time. Your never going to get everyone using the same site but facebook is very popular and although it's an american site, There is alot of UK members (like myself) on there! I know you didn't mention myspace but metalhalo did. Everyone has different opinions but I would say it the other way round. I haven't logged into facebook in ages but facebook I log on to everyday! There's much more to do and with people inviting others to join, it's making it more and more popular so ofcourse it's going to spark discussion. Going back to the applications - I said before that there may be too many applications but that meant choice so there is something for everyone... Well, that is probably a big contributor to how it's ended up in the #1 spot. Users discussing the different applications on there! Ofcourse this application has helped add to the facebook topics too. :)

I would say there has to be an Error somewhere as that is not possible at all that there are more on the Interest then there is Members on this Site, I am certainly not under that Interest as I do not like the Site so I think there is a glitch there somehow

This is a good question. However, I don't know the answer, too. I don't understand why it can be so popular. I am a member of Facebook but I don't like it. I registered it because my friend is a member there. I need to become to a member so that I can see the photos. This is my reason to join Facebook. I don't think its feature is good enough. I love China

I honestly don't like facebook. My friends and I joined a long time ago but it's always been a bit on the bland side. We like myspace much more. People say it's been overrun by the younger crowd, but really if you just stick with your group of friends, it's great. I couldn't even tell you the last time I logged into facebook. Mylot and myspace is where I'm at!
