Paypal/Ebay class action lawsuit.. are you in on it?

In my email yesterday, I received an email telling me about a class action lawsuit against the auction giant and its payment company. The suit alleges that Paypal did not treat all Paypal only (NOT backed by credit card transactions) buyer complaints/claims as credit card transactions (like it should have)when there was a problem with the transaction. To put it simply, you bought something on Greedbay using Paypal and you did NOT back it with a credit card. Then there was a problem with the item (ie.. you never received the item, it was damaged, etc...) If you filed a complaint with Paypal and then escalated it to a claim and did NOT receive a refund; you may be eligible to participate in this lawsuit. See, Paypal is required to follow the same rules as if you were paying via credit card. If you had a valid credit card at time of the transaction that you could have used, (but didn't) to back the transaction, you would have been able to file a chargeback on your credit card and get your money back. The same rules should have been followed when NOT backed by a credit card. In my case, I bought a shirt from a guy on greedbay on Dec 14th 2007, paid via Paypal through my bank account, I received it, and left positive feedback. I ordered the exact same shirt from the same guy, 9 days later. I let him know I ordered another one... never received it, he never responded to my emails. When I filed the claim, he gave the delivery confirmation (as required), but that was for the FIRST shirt. Paypal closed the case. I appealed, and lost. I was out $30 . So, you better believe I am jumping on the bandwagon. If I can get just $25 bucks from it I'll be happy. To get more info, and to see if you qualify to participate, go here www.steelesettlement.com. It is the sponsoring website. Are you participating in this class action suit? If not, have you ever been a part of ANY classaction suit and how much money, (if any) did you gain?

There was a class action suit announced recently concerning medication that had made me far beyond ill. I asked the doctor about it, and he told me the paperwork needed, as well as legal costs, would leave me with $25 or less. It wasn't worth the aggravation. I've heard that about other class action suits, too. Getting that $25 would be more work than anyone should have to do to get it! Good luck! I just wouldn't trust e-bay again!

I am so sorry a medication meant to help you made you sick and hope that you are well on your way to recovery with no long term adverse effects. That must be rough. I wasn't aware that any legal fees were involved. Thank you for letting me know about that. It will probably be something I will not pursue knowing that. As for greedbay... I don't buy or sell there any longer or anywhere else for that matter. I miss it though. It was fun

The problem is that so many sites only pay us through Paypal. I wish they'd just send checks and leave out the "agent" who gets part of our income and doesn't necessarily keep their books very accurately!

I wasn't aware of the lawsuit. Maybe because I only filed one claim and it was settled? Dunno. It's good though, I really hate Paypal and their fees. I hope that you get some money out of it though!

If you received a refund, you would not be eligible. I can't stand Paypal either. I don't use it very often anymore. When I was a seller on greedyfeepay, the 2 combined took so much more of my profit than was needed.. they should settle on 1 standard LOW fee from start to finish of the auction and payment. Seeing as how Ebay owns Paypal, I don't see why this is out of the question..

I hadn't even heard of this but I usually pay with my credit card anyway.

It's been time and again bad negative report about ebay. I'm starting to lose trust in this site. I think they should do really something quick before they start losing customers by the day and by the second. I am getting those newsletters from ebay but I don't really pay close attention to. I used to be an avid buyer in ebay but now, I am thinking twice about using their services. Unless they start to receive positive feed-backs once more, I am not going to join in yet.
