Can anyone tell me about pet flea control and a law about the vet seeing the pet before giving you flea control? My vet told me this morning that they would not let me buy flea control for my dog. They said she hasn't been seen in a year and I have to make a appointment. Why? Cause they want the office visit 20.00 or more depending on your vet. For them to tell me my dog has fleas? My vet also said it was the law is this true?

I have never heard anything like that. If that were the case then you couldn't buy it over the counter or through a 1-800-pet-meds. They are just trying to get the money from you. What I do during flea season is I flavor my pets' food up with garlic powder...not salt and it helps to keep the fleas off of them. If you do get them then you need to vacuum often. I put Borax laundry soap on my carpet....leave it for like an hour and vacuum. Clean your filter or change your vacuum cleaner bag daily until you get the fleas under control. If you have to then go to a pet store and ask them what to use for your pet.

Thanks for that advice. I think it's sad, cause my poor dog is iching so bad. I was going to give her a flea bath, then put on the flea med between her shoulders. The fleas would die. And she would have some releif. Im never going to that vet again.
