Do you have family being affected by Hurricane Gustav?

My family lives in Louisiana. They are near the center of the state. I am sure they will feel the effects of this hurricane, but I am confident they will come through it well. Do you have family in Louisiana or Texas that you are worrying about? Will they have to move out of there or will they be able to ride it out?

Thankfully, I have no family in the US, but a former resident of the town I live in is over that way, and her mother is desperately trying to find out where she has gone and if she and her family are ok.

My husband was in New Orleans working, they run him out of the job and the hotel. So he is home now. I have my sons, their families, and my brother down there. We have been doing nothing but watching the weather channel. They went around and told them to leave, but my boys won't go. They won't leave things for the lotters. And my son has a 4 wheel drive truck on huge tires that he goes around looking for people to get them out when the hurricane is gone. People get stuck in their homes and other places and he goes driving around with my other son and they try to find them and take them to safety. SO I worry about them. The families were suppose to come to our house but decided to ride it out this time. Many, many blessings to all down there!

Thank you, I haven't really thought taht much about being proud of them. I worry too much. You are of course right. I guess I've thought a little about it, but never told them I'm proud of their efforts. I do need to do that, thank you for reminding me of something much needed to be done. I just worry so much for them and putting themselves in harms way all the time.

Hi Moondancer, I am so happy for you that your husband is home. You should be very proud of your sons. They sound very brave and very helpful. Good luck to them in their endeavors to help others. They are to be commended for their efforts. The Lord will watch out for them, and help them. Blessings to everyone that was affected by the hurricane. Have a nice day..

I have family that lives in Florida so when I see on the news about a hurricane I pay attention. Thankfully for my family the hurricane will miss them. I haqve been thinking about the oor people down in New Orleans, I feel sorry for them. I feel sorry for any one in the path of this storm. Thankfully people are getting the heck up outta there. They did learn something from Katrina. I do hope all will be well with your family.

Hi Polly, Florida seems to have fared well from one hurricane, but how will it fare with the other three? Hopefully, they will be able to hold their own with little loss of life and property. Good luck to you and yours on getting through this hurricane season. I had planned on going to Louisiana for Labor Day, but Gustav changed my mind. LOL I have a lot of respect for hurricanes. I have heard from my family, they have fared very well. Some limbs off the nearby trees, and lots of rain. Loss of power, but had a generator to get by with. Have a nice day..

Hi cajun, I am so happy that you were able to leave your home and go to safety on Saturday and return to your home on Tuesday. This seems to have been a shorter time away from home than what you went through during Rita. Bet it feels good just to be home. I'm happy that damages were less as well. Hopefully your area will not have to go through too many hurricanes this season. I will be keeping you in my prayers. My family is in central Louisiana, and fared well. They had a loss of power, lots of rain, and some tree damage. Take care, Cajun, and have a nice day..

I do have family in Louisiana and Texas, we spoke to my brother-in-law yeaterday and he said that he was going to stay put. My husband wants his brother to leave New Orleans but, I don't think he wants to. I hope he does though. The rest of my family lives in the Houston area. I have an uncle that lives in Porter, A cousin with his family, and more in laws. I hope that they are all safe in this very difficult time. God Bless everyone
