I was told that you can tell if someone is a student or a working professional by the type of pen that the person carry. It is said that majority of the ones using a pen with a plastic containers are students and that most professionals use one made of metal. From then on I make it a point to bring with me a metal pen (usually Parker made) to let people know I am a working professional and not a student anymore. What do you think?

When i was in primary school my teacher had a special pen, and it had a metal cap and was only allowed for her hands, since the cap can be damaged. So that is when i first learn about writing with different pens. i would like to get me a special pen when i first graduate.

Really?! I'm already a working professional but I still use a pen with plastic containers. Haha! I don't think you can tell that just because of the type of pen the person is using. There could be some students with rich parents who have metal pens for all you know it.

i think its such a shallow way of categorizing people. my boss has been a professional and had established himself as a doctor in the states and here in Oman but he uses this cheap pen... when asked why, he will just say because it writes better!... its true that professional can actually afford such expensive pens that may be the reason behind it... for me, as long as it writes good, i dont mind even if its those plastic pens or even a giveaway from a store... :)

I see this as an extremly shallow way to look at someone. A student can just as easily buy a pen that a professional might use. Furthremore someone who buys an expensive pen rather than using a regular pen that does the same job might be trying to compensate for something, perhaps their lack of abilities.

I'm a student but i use a parker inkpen. :D The only thing the pen says is, you made enough money to buy it. Though i must say parker ink pens are really worth the buy, they're better than your average inkpens, even though 5 times as costly. Most pros use ink pen, and that too one with a metal body. Its true. The toppers in my class all use metal pens :D
