How Do you Battle Low Self-Esteem?

Most people feel bad about themselves from time to time. Temporary feelings of low self-esteem may be triggered by being treated poorly by someone else recently or in the past, or by a person's own judgments of him or herself. Low self-esteem is a constant companion for too many people, especially those who experience depression. If you go through life feeling bad about yourself needlessly, low self-esteem keeps you from enjoying life, doing the things you want to do, and working toward personal goals.

Im currently going through this right now and i have been for the past couple of years. I just dont know how to cope with it and i thank you for starting this dicussion so i can learn a couple of things myself. I don't have a relationship with anybody good enough to talk about this kind of thing so i dont know if it helps or not but since you haven't talked 1o1 to someone about this its a suggestion.

I have always had a difficulty with low self-esteem! There have been days when I have been really feeling down in the dumps! Thankfully I have managed to pick myself up on all occasions. I think that there is a lot of help out there in the way of books as well as the Internet. I personally love books so reading books on this subject is the obvious choice for me. Self-help books are very good on low self-esteem! When I read a book on positive thinking I suddenly experience this enormous strength! I suddenly have a new zest for live, I want to go on living, I want to do things! I think that positive thinking is definitely the way forward. I have decided that wherever I am in life, whatever I am doing; I will always have some kind of self-help book by myside. Whenever I am feeling down, I just pick it up and have a read; just enough to freshen my mind! In relation to low self-esteem I guess you are really your own worst enemy! But, nothing is impossible and change is very possible. Andrew

Hi there! Our friend OceanTiara said Low self esteem generally is caused by degrading/abuse or humiliation of a person in the past or present by another. You feel bad about yourself. You know i am also like you, i can't say no to others who ask for help even though sometimes i don't have enough to do it.

I just tell myself that the people who would make me think that I have low self-esteem, be they individuals I know or don't know, or society in general, are nothing but a bunch of stupid b@stards who think so little of themselves that they feel they can only rise up by trying to bring someone down, and that I should ignore them. Then I ignore them, and get on with my life.

first of all...make a list of all the things that you Can do.Dont focus on the hopeless stuff.Add to your can do list a little at a time. One person always is a little bit better off than another.
