I normally have only two meals a day - brunch and dinner. My brunch is little in quantity while my dinner is astronomical. I know this diet isn't exactly healthy but I can't really help it. And recently, I have been eating extra "meals" at irregular timings. I have been feeling too lazy to care and just feel like doing what I please. Yes, having my diet messed up is not something to be proud of. Currently, I am trying to keep snacking to a minimum and get back to my two meals. I was watching a drama serial just yesterday that was set in Hong Kong. I was surprised that Hong Kongners were portrayed as heavy eaters of supper. If the show was factual enough, it seems that supper is a commonly "essential" meal there. What is it like over your side? Is supper a common meal you take regularly? Do you place as much emphasis on supper as other meals? What do you usually eat for supper? If you can find pictures, do upload to share too. Or do you hardly take supper? Or do you take it as and when you feel like it? Do share your thoughts. :D

Like you, I take Brunch and Dinner. My Brunch is usually more like Breakfast. I will take milk, biscuits or bread. My Dinner is not astronomical but I definitely eat more for dinner. I usually take dinner around 8pm either outside or dabao home. Given my slow eating speed, by the time I finishes my dinner, I will not have any more appetite for any other food later in the night. Like Hong Kongers, many Singaporeans seem to enjoy supper. The Nasi Lemak and Teochew Porridge stalls near my place are always full of people every night. I hardly take supper. If I do take, I would be eating stuffs like chocolates or chips..

Supper?? WHile my dinner is at 10-11pm, does it considered to be supper?? lol I too have irregular meals, starting my 1st meal of the day with brunch at 1-3pm, after which with no snacks at all till my dinner time at 10pm like that.. hehe.. BUt still, i think it's not good for me because i dun have enough time to digest my late night food, but i have no choice.. ANd yeah, i agree that hongkies are big favourites for supper and thus u see all the hongkong cafes in singapore, are opened till 2-4am instead of like those normal cafes or restaurant that closes at 10-11pm ^_^ The answer is very obvious ^_^

So you mean to say you usually cook more than what you eat and then you save the rest for supper?

I don't know how you people eat so little. I have a tiny breakfast, a "normal" lunch, a snack in the afternoon, a hearty dinner, and another snack at around 9 PM. If I skip any of these meals, I get horribly hungry.

Well as food is an important part of my life, I would say "yes I eat supper everyday !" Well it is always better to eat three or maybe four times a day, than eating all day long ! Anyway, Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It is scientificaly proven. I would give everything for my traditional eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms, baked beans and fried bead as breakfast !

Sometimes we eat what is considered a normal supper and other times we just snack. It usually depends on whether we've had a bigger than normal lunch.

Well, first I have to have something for breakfast. I do try to have a supper around six in the evening. Sometimes it may just be a light one or a salad. I feel better if I have breakfast, especially if I can have whole grain cereal or toast. But if I fix a supper I try to have meat and veggies and maybe a salad.

Well we prefer to eat early. We usually go to bed around 10. I have learned that eating late is not good for digestion or sleep.

I usually make three meals for my son with snacks in between and I would usually have a late breakfast, snack at lunch and have dinner with my family - not a heavy dinner. I may even snack at night before I go to bed - not a good habit LOL it;s beginning to show haha!

I think our eating pattern and schedule depends on what we have been accustomed to, coz our stomach will send signals if it is already hungry, depending on what time it is usually being feed of food and on the quantity of food it usually take. I usually have light breakfast, have sometimes lunch consisting of rice and viand but sometimes not taking lunch at all but have heavy afternoon snacks, then take dinner either light (bread, soup or juice)or heavy (rice and viand - meat or fish, vegies). The reason for taking dinner is that I usually stay up late at night. I think my eating pattern or habit is not the usual or ideal way, but this is what my stomach is accustomed to.

An experiment would be interesting - imagine you are cut off from all indicators of time and we are allowed to eat as and when we are tired. I wonder what the result would show. Would we still eat e.g. 3 meals a day?

Maybe someone should make one experiment like this to determine what is the natural course of food consumption for people - 3 meals? 5 small meals? 1 meal? Who knows?

Even if there's no clock around, the stomach will send signal it is in need of food if it is accustomed to be fed on that pattern or time, but of course you will eat if there is available food. What if there is no available food, just water. Then the stomach will still cry out for something to fill it in. Then it will become accustom to what it can take after 3 or more days onwards. Before, I can go on without lunch, just take light breakfast and the afternoon snacks. When I went to our province for vacation, it was necessary that I take breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner with the relatives. I did that for almost 2 weeks. When I returned to the city and reported for work, my officemates were surprised that I am taking lunch coz before I don't take lunch. The reason, is that my stomach is crumbling for food at lunch time coz for tha past 2 weeks while in the province, I was taking my lunch.

Eating supper is a horrible thing for me. The main thing is because after eating a meal so late and then go to sleep it upsets my digestive system and metabolism rate. Going to bed full but when I wake up the next morning, I'll be very very hungry. Its been ages since my husband and I last had supper. Mostly we have lunch and dinner. Sometimes if we have very very tight and busy scehdule, we would have "dinch" - lunch + dinner together at about 4pm. So that's the meal for the day.....

Hello, I have been on a diet this whole summer and try to eat smaller meals . When I wake i will have a piece of fruit and then my coffee . After that i will have some special kay , or something like that . Lunch is another piece of fruit or a yogurt or a small healthy choice dinner , or another another kind of lean something . Oh salads too I eat those for lunch . Dinner is a meat and a veggie or anything . I am always snacking on fruits or cheese . I am a slow loser when it comes to losing and have lost 17 lbs since June !

Oh gosh, I must be the only bunny who doesn't eat much. I tried to maintain a-2- meals-a-day diet but the serving size was really small compared to the regular one. I can't remember when was the last time I truly enjoyed a hot meal. It really depends on my mood. Sometimes I feel like eating some sweets or a big pack of junk food. Other times, I do not eat at all. Some of my girl friends were skipping dinner for fear that they might get fat.[ No matter what time or day is it, Filipinos are known to be a heavy rice eater. Even with only one or two viands of small servings, you can see them gulping down everything with gusto. Be it lunch, supper or even breakfast, rice is a staple part of their meals.

i am not a person who eats on time and i don't eat a lot..normally i eat once a day only and that would be my lunch but ever since my lil sister's boyfriend stays at home i learned how to eat whenever...i eat my breakfast and my lunch on time..as per lunch i eat a lot..a bowl of rice and on afternoon we eat some snacks...during dinner i eat a lot as well..i eat rice for dinner and i found myself eating for midnight snacks...quite a lot for a day is what i can eat..for my body size it's better for me more than what its supposed to be eaten per day as i am so much skinny underweight..it does a lot of help because i am now gaining weight and hoping for an ideal weight one day

In our country, we are used eating 3 times a day...breakfast, lunch and dinner...And aside from that we are even used to snacks...Usually, or most of us, eat rice from breakfast to dinner and still have heavy snacks...I think if you were used to that, then it's normal...And as far as I know and read it, our stomach must have something to digest every 4 hours...So it's normal, unless your on a diet and confused on your looks then you must have to less eating heavy meals and just have to shift being vegetarian... Stay Healthy! Have a nice day! God bless!
