Some of you already know that I am Have been having stomuch pains for a while now so I am, having a Colonoscopy/Lower GI Endoscopy test tomorrow. ( 08/03/08 ) So for today I have do do clear liquids only. I have to drink a whole Gallon of this Clear stuff. 1 8 once cup every 10 mintues till the whole Gallon is gone.. This will be torture. I can't drink anything that fast. So have you ever had a Colonoscopy? Do you know how important it is to get one? They say that if you over 50 you should get one every 2-3 years.

I guess I am not at the stage in life. Although my son has had one before. I remember he had to drink all that too. It was terrible. I felt so sorry for him.

My mom had one earlier this year. She had to drink a 64 ounce thing of Gatorade with a 2 week supply of Miralax mixed in. She had to drink 8 ounces every 30 minutes for 4 hours. She had a hard time doing it too. Yours seems so much worse.

I did have a colonoscopy last year and drinking that "junk" was quite an interesting experience. Will be due for another one in about 3 years. Didn't have any major problems so that was a good thing. How did your test turn out?

I've had an endoscopy, but I didn't have to drink that stuff, I just had to not eat for a day. My dad on the other hand has had a colonoscopy and I remember how much he hated drinking that stuff. He said it was one of the nastiest things he had ever had. My sister had to do it once too and she was none too happy with it either. I've yet to have a colonoscopy, and I hope I don't have to for decades to come!

Unfortunatly I've had a problem with hemmorhoids since my youngest was born, about 8 months ago. So that is the only thing on my mind right now because it constantly hurts. Sorry for bringing it up, lol.

I know it is important, but I am resisting it. I know about the colon prep. If hubby would go, I would too, though. There is a history of colon cancer in his family. I guess you are going to have to use myLot to take your mind off of the yucky stuff.

Over 50??!!?? If you don't have to start these until you are over 50, then I want every one of you to start thanking your lucky stars. I started having to have them when I was nineteen because I was having so many GI problems, they found out I have Crohn's Disease so I should have one every four years now. I've already had two. I drank that stuff for the first but for the second, I didn't have to have any preperation. (It wasn't as pleasant as it sounds, the lack of prep was because I hadn't been able to keep anything down for a week so I didn't have anything in my system at all to flush out) Both of the colonoscopy's, I woke up in the middle of. The first one wasn't bad because I was so doped and I got to watch the whole procedure on the screen in front of me (which was bizarre because the cut a polyp out and then dropped it). The second one was noticeably different because I had so much swelling and pain that I came out and just remember screaming while my doctor held my hand. They had to sedate me more. A word to anyone having this done, it isn't normal for that to happen. I have extremely low blood pressure so the sedation couldn't be too high and due to all the previous pain, I reacted much differently. It is usually a very routine procedure.
