Do you know why I pulled you over?

I was just reading in the paper that the local highway patrol issued the Sunday before Labor Day about 90 speeding tickets. What's weird is that the area they covered started from the on-ramp I usually use to the exit I take to go to my mom's house. These 90 tickets were issued within 2 hours. Fortunately, since I started driving (1999), I have never had a traffic or parking violation (knock on wood several times). Of course, I've had my share of speeding (younger days) but now I've mellowed down. How about you? Have you ever been pulled over? And do you think they had every reason to pull you over? Or do you think they were trying to reach some kind of quota because it was the end of the month?

I have been pulled over once but that was because it the World Cup and they were doing random breath tests. Needless to say I passed as all I had that night was two diet cokes. I have been caught speeding though by a camera and had a parking fine, so I'm not exactly an angel. Here they only pull you over if they have a reason to.

Thanks for the response Laura. I'd like to think that the highway patrol only turn those lights on when they have a reason to. But there are always people contesting their tickets. Weren't you glad you only had those two diet cokes when you got pulled over?

Yup, though because there was about 6 policeman looking at me it made me feel I had done something wrong!

I think that's always the case. If I was pulled over, I know I would be sweating it out even if I knew I don't have anything to worry about.

I haven't gotten a ticket for about 20 years, maybe more. I was in a rental car, after having gotten off a midnight flight in Denver and sailing downhill a bit after dawn on my way to a friend's house downstate Colorado, windows down trying to stay awake. The breeze felt so good that I speeded up just a bit to get some wind on my face and wham, that is when the trooper nailed me. I lost the money I saved by taking a bargain flight on the ticket! Grrrrr! Haven't been busted since, though, as you say, knock on wood....

That's too bad about ticket. And it's good that you haven't had one since then. Knock on wood (infinity times). The night breeze does feel good!
