my own dog bit me

well my own dog bit me. i guess it was my own fault. he has been jealous of the new puppies that we have at home. i think he got used to have all our attention centered on just him so i guess he felt neglected. before he bit me he was snarling at the puppies for bothering him. as i was approaching i was talking to him to let him know that it was me, when i touched him from behind to carry him out he turned his head and bit me on my hand! when he heard me scream he was kinda shock that he bit me. to make matters worse, his anti-rabies vaccine is not updated :( so i had 4 injections and i have three more appointments to finish this month, with two injections with each visit *sigh*.

You have one thing right. It was your fault. Dogs are pack animals. If you didn't let your dog lead the pack and be the head of the house it wouldn't have happened. Your dog is above you on the pack level.
If you were leading the pack it wouldn't have happened.

Oh that's sad. I know its painful to get bitten by dogs an then later on take so many injections. The injections are another big pain. Hope everything gets ok and your fine too.
I'm sure your dog didn't do this on purpose. Dogs are usually very faithful animals. He must have just got a little confused or something like that and bit you by mistake. He must be feeling terribly bad for having done this and to see you now in such a state.

yeah am sure he just mistook me for something else. i have stopped ignoring him already. hehehe. anyway am doing fine, just had another round of shots this morning.

Wow!! Was your dog outside and attacked by another animal to make you think it could be rabies? If thats the case he should be quarantined to not infect the other puppies or anyone else if he happens to bite someone again. Maybe he thought you were one of the puppies or you just startled him when you touched him. Our dog bite my teenage son on the leg the other day not enough to draw blood but he still bit him. Goodluck with your dog hope he doesn't bite you again. Keep an eye on him to make sure he's not getting agressive with the pups because if he is jealous he just might do some harm to them.

right now i am giving him the cold shoulder and hoping that he gets the message and not do it again. and you are right, i am keeping my eye on him for any change in his behavior

hi,
i have been bitten by my dog as well and mine is a pup.i wanted to train my dog not to bite as giving it the cold shoulder doesn't help one bit. could anyone advise me on what i should do?

hi
i have stopped giving my dog the cold shoulder already. he seem sad when i ignore him. i tried telling him that he hurt me when he bit me. hope he understood ^_^.
