Why are some MyLotters so discourteous?

Yesterday I had an unsettling experience while I was working on myLot. I posted a discussion as I normally do, and was shocked a sort time later when I went to give some comments to the responses. A person who I am not even familiar with used some abusive language towards me in their response. I could not understand where this was coming from since I couldn't remember ever having had any contact with them prior to this. if I see a post that I think is stupid or uninteresting I simply avoid it; I see no need to attack the poster with abusive language. What is happening here? Have you ever been attacked in this manner?

Stupid people are around the world and I am not surprised if they could even invade myLot. If I were you, I would just ignore them. They are not worth your time. Those kind of people are happier when you respond to them. Let them talk to the walls all their life. Don't pay attention to them... there are more good people around anyway!

In my favor, salonga, I resisted the urge to fire back at them. It would have achieved nothing when dealing with such a person.

Hi Worldwise, They are people are they are people. Sometimes it is just natural for this people. Other times, you might have stepped on his or her toes by mistake and not known it. Just recently, on one of my discussions which has dual meanings (you are supposed to read between the lines - most responders did not get what I was asking and addressed the wrong question), this person whom I am not familiar with came and insult me, saying she finally confirmed that I was indeed brainless. It sort of spoiled my day a bit. Occasionally in time forgotten, people have attacked me before too. Thankfully, I always have a bunch of close myLot friends who rallied around me. I am most grateful.

If she knew the true Wiz she would know you are not brainless far from it! You are a very intellectual, informative and supportive person my friend. Further more I am like you I can be really really happy then someone throws me a comment on or offline and that will throw me down and make me grumpy and irritable. Just one negative comment, doesn't help I soak negativity up like a sponge. Besides if she doesn't want to take the time to get to know the real Wiz then it's her loss, she misses out not you my friend!

As the saying goes ,there is always one!it never ceases to amaze me,people come and write on sites such as these and can find no better way of expressing themselves than verbally abusing other users. What a poor life it is if this person couldnt find something reasonably intelligent to write!

My day would have been much better, ruby, if they had never responded to my discussion at all.

I can't understand what gets into someone that makes them have to post a foul language comment to a person's discussion, having never met the person. Was this person even discussing what you had intended to be discussed? Or was he/she just giving a nasty retort? Those people have too much time on their hands, and they need to be permanently banned.

Actually, Barb, my discussion was probably one of the most benign I've ever posted, so I was flabbergasted to receive such an attack. This forum(or any other) is no place for people who have a huge chip on their shoulders.

I guess we find out quickly that there are those kind around mylot, too. I just can't figure out what gets into people sometimes when they do those things. I've been reading discussions/comments, and keep scrolling down, reading, and then come to an 'off the wall' comment that had absolutely nothing to do with the discussion. Or, other day, I read one comment that I knew the person apparently didn't get what the person wrote. The person posting the discussion came back and sort of reprimanded them and told them, had they read the entire discussion they'd have drawn a different conclusion. I just laughed and was glad to see the person do that! I figured they were partly reading discussions and then just placing a comment to get money. Didn't matter if it was right or not.

Yes, I just had that experience a few days ago. I started a discussion mainly with the aim of sharing my happiness and elation over something that had happened to me, which was really beyond my expectation. I received a number of responses that were all positive sounding, congratulating me and sharing with me the happiness that I was basking in at that moment. Then came the response of this one person that is so totally negative, so very rude, and not even happy posting such kind of comment, he even "dubbed" me in to myLot admin coz apparently, my discussion was in "violation" of something which I see other myLotters here are discussing quite openly. That resulted in the deletion of my discussion. I started another discussion as a follow-up to the one that got deleted, again I received a few consoling responses and this person posted another rude response and guess what? That discussion got deleted as well. And to make things worst, he posted replies to my other previous posted discussions here, even those that are like couple of months old already in the same tone...as if, he's really trying his best to stir me up as his comments seems to be getting personal already. And although in his latest comment, he seemed to have mellowed a bit but he still ended his comment in a negative note. Such a stirrer, that mongrel!

I think the person you have referred to would be considered a "troll," pink. It should work the other way around, in that you should have been the one reporting him.

No lordwarwizard...I'm not letting that person get the best of me. I'm having fun posting here in myLot...if he's got a problem with that, then that he's problem. And yes worldwise1, I did wrote a complaint about him to myLot admin, the same time I queried why my discussion got deleted. I suppose, he was given a "slap on the wrist" as his succeeding comments after that had become mellow, although there is still that sense of negativity which I guess is his mark. I'm just wondering if we are referring to the same person here, or there are many others, who like this person that I have encountered, are all hell bound to create/stir up trouble to spoil our fun and good intentions here.

I can't explain why some people are so nasty. There are people who aren't happy unless they're putting someone else down. I find that 99% of the people here are very nice, but, there are always those 1% who are just nasty, petty, vindictive people. Ignore them....they really want to get our reactions. Don't give them what they want.

Maybe it is because I've mellowed out somewhat, maddysmommy, but, yes, I reported them rather than get into a dispute with them.

I have seen this a lot more lately and have no idea what people get out of it! If only they realised that by being at least civil they would open themselves up to such a better experience here and probably make a lot of friends too! Why be so nasty and rude - perhaps tehy were not raised very well and do not know how to speak to others when in agreement let alone how to discuss without resorting to abuse! xxxx

I can see if you went into someones discussion and made a reply they didn't like, but this was in your own? No, I don't think I have, though I have had people make off the wall comments aobut what I was posting, but nothing really bad..If it was really bad, maybe you should report them..

I was always taught, carmelanirel, that if you can't find anything good to say you should say nothing at all. While that may not apply in every situation, I think it's fair when it comes to replying to discussions in a civil manner.

Unfortunately not everyone had been taught correctly World, you are a good person and I am sorry that someone felt they had to make a comment that was not nice to you.. Don't let it get you down, one thing I have learned is you can't please everyone..Just know that you do have friends have who are mature enough to have a decent discussion without hurting other people..

Basically all over the world and right here in Trinidad the behaviour of people is awful. People are becoming very discourteous here in Trinidad which used to be known for its nice people. Its like a spreading disease. This business of being rude and cussing others. I've experienced this myself here at home.

it has not happened to me but to be honest if it did i would ignore them. people like that are looking for a fight and want you to banter back and forth with them. if you do not give them the satisfaction they will slink away back under their hole.

There seem to be a rash of this going around these few weeks - been seeing some myLotters posting about nasties! I don't know if these people are getting their kicks from being mean & nasty! Maybe they are bored, or lonely - this could be their only source of entertainment - getting people upset! So, ignore them - don't let them get to you! Have a good day, and happy myLotting!

I have! Once in a post I started and another in a post I commented in. I think some people are just angry all the time and take it out on who ever they run into. It bothered me to read what I read. Maybe the best course of action is to just report them. I do not like to lose money for a good post written but what else can you do? If people are aloud to continue behavior like that then some of us that are trying to have a good time here will be the ones to suffer. Sorry for your bad experience.

there are always people like that everywhere... this is the reality of a world that had fallen into sin... we can't expect to see only good people... there are bad people as well... one example is like you mention... the rude people who use their words to hurt other people for nothing... i will just ignore them and pretend that they do not exist... just try to have fun here... take care and have a nice day...

There is no need for rudeness in any shape or form, rudeness is not welcome and is the height of bad manners as for someone to launch a tirade against you is a) out of order, b) you are the last person anyone should attack and c) it's against Mylot's t&c's I hope you have reported this person, because this 'person' is not welcome on this site. It is a friendly family site and we do not need responses like that thank you very much. Say if you were new to the site and you got this response it would put you off Mylot for life wouldn't it and that would be a great shame because I consider you a very good friend of mine. It riles me that someone should use you as someone to have a go at.

I don't know worldwise. There is really no need for anyone to do this on here, other than maybe they are trying to stir up trouble. Like you, I tend to skip over discussions I have no interest in responding to. However on those rare occasions that I do join in such discussions I try my best to be civil. If only everyone would be willing to do this, mylot would be a much nicer place.

It's not just in myLot. It's everywhere. MyLot just makes it easier for them to be morons because they are hiding behind a screen. Sadly, there are a lot of jerks in this world. I wouldn't give them to much thought. In this case they are a complete stranger. It isn't worth wasting another moment thinking about them.

I hv received some responses which I do not like but I have never received any abusive language response. I do not think that my lot allows abusive language to be used in discussions or responses and they immediately alert that these words are against the rules please replace. I do not understand how one has written like this to you. Any way please ignore and comment further.

There are ways to get around any rules if you are careful enough, sweet. Creative use of symbols rather than letters is the method used by this person. The meaning, however, was crystal clear.
