I was actually wondering if anyone here deals with some form of anxiety. I have dealt with it for some years now and take medication for it. I would really like to be able to try life without medicine but I am not sure how to go about it. Any suggestions from anybody with similar issues?

I was actually diagnosed with some pretty severe anxiety problems when I was a young teenager. I was on medication for several years before I was switched from one medication to another and that second medication made me a bit sick. I decided that I couldn't take it anymore and just stopped taking it. I didn't have any withdrawl symptoms and actually function pretty well without meds. Sometimes I do have periods of moderate anxiety but I try to work through it and just realize that it's just the anxiety talking and that I have to get over it. If you are contemplating going off the medication, I would speak to your doctor first and see what they think the best plan of action is.

I thank you for your input. I appreciate that you responded to me and I believe you are right about needing to speak to a doctor. The medication I am taking has been working over the last eight months or so and I really don't want to stop taking it.

Stress and anxiety ,whether mild and sever,is highly detrimental to physical, mental and psychic welbeing of a person.Dealining with anxiety poses a great challenge to the victim,as it erases all positive strength and energy, making one weak to cope with the realities of life. Its remedy lies very closely within oneself;any external source of relief may give some temporary solace, but is not a effective approach to give a lasting benefit.Based on my personal experince,I do strongly believe that infusion of fresh positivity and life energy to one's inner being through resorting to regular meditation often proves miraculous and is highly effective in dealing with anxiety and stress of all kinds. Thanks.

I am very grateful for you quick responses here today. You seem like you know a lot of the condition of anxiety. You are right. It does take away one's strength and it distracts me sometimes. I would like to resort to some type of meditation but I believe it will take some patience. Thanks again for your tips.

I was once in a wreck on a highway and every since then I have fairly bad anxiety attacks when I get on the highway. I have considered taking medication but do not currently. What I do when we have to travel on the highway is practice breathing, take along a book or magazine to read to keep me desracted and just really focus on staying calm. I still don't like traveling on the highway but my anxiety is helped by doing those things when I have to.

Thank you so much for your response. I am sorry to hear of your wreck on the highway. I can just imagine that must have really wreaked havoc with your nerves. The residual anxiety from it all can be overwhelming to say the least. I wish you much luck with this. Thank you for your tips. I will take any advice I can get.
