There are only two kinds of people who are really fascinating: people who know absolutely everything, and people who know absolutely nothing.~ Oscar Wilde

I find all people fascinating. I think Oscar Wilde may have been right though. I feel sorry for people who know everything because they cannot have the pleasure of learning new things.

Of course, people who seem to know everything will generally say that they have much to learn; people who claim to know everything have generally forgotten that one very important fact. Oscar was always a great one for the 'quotable quotes' and natty aphorisms!

They are fair game for inciting to tie themselves in knots!

Lots of people interest me, I especially like listening to people who have a real life story to tell. I've found I find out more by keeping my mouth shut and my ears open. I don't like the big headed mouthy people the 'know all, know nothings'. I like the people who know they know nothing because that way they can learn and I like the people who know they know something, but not everything because I can learn from them and hopefully they can learn from me. I just generally like people in general though.

All people have ways of being fascinating. It may not be in attractive ways, but everyone has something interesting about them. I tend to gravitate towards intelligent people. However, I love watching crazy things that other people do and different ways than I'm used to of doing things.

I am a great people-watcher, myself. I could sit for hours in a quiet corner of a coffee-shop or pub just watching people 'being themselves'! For conversation, I like the people who have slightly zany, grasshopper minds. They are usually the intelligent ones, as it happens!

You are more generous than me, I think. I find people who like only the sound of their own voices very quickly turn me off!

There is nothing more difficult than a person who cannot see that the questions one asks and the comments one makes are only designed to get them to tell you their story. Most people are only too happy to tell their story if they know you are listening. I generally find them more fascinating than any novel!

I am like you i love people watching and would be happy to sit and watch for hours. I like watching dads with toddlers they are so funny. As far as people i like well i like most people except those that brag and lie or exceptionally stupid people who are just dumb to the point of frustration

They would fascinate me, too! I think that's a phenomenon we don't have here, though moderately well-off people can sometimes be seen searching through skips (which you call dumpsters) for off-cuts of wood, old doors ... that sort of thing. I have a very nice water feature which I rescued once! All it needed was a pump (and a wheelbarrow to cart it home at midnight, lol).

I'd not heard that quote before but I do agree with the second part, sometimes people who know everything just bore me because they're often bigheaded and talk about themselves! I am mostly fascinated by people who know nothing, you know the kind, those who think they know stuff and actually don't or those who will argue with you all day even if you can prove them wrong. I find it fascinating that some people can be so stupid. There have been many a time when I have explained something really simply and someone else hasn't understood and rather than just admitting they didn't understand, they would argue either because they didn't like what they thought I said or because they were too ashamed to admit they didn't understand.

I very often stop explaining to that kind of person and get THEM to talk. Then I have a chance of seeing what kind of tangle their mind is in! To unravel a ball of string, one must first find an end!

I am most fascinated by people who know God, the most. I am drawn by their personal relationship with Him and their humility.

Now, that is a very interesting fascination! Yes, I agree, it's a trait worth being fascinated by. I have to say that I am drawn to people like that more than I am to many people.

I find inventors fascinating just because they have that creativity to think of someone that nobody else has! So many people plan to invent things that will change the world but not many actually achieve it!

A good one! They are not always the most likeable of people but they take a lot of working out to find what (perhaps) makes them tick!

I know this is an old post but I adore all Oscar Wilde's quotes and had to just leave you a note.

It's an old post which would now be 'against the Guidelines' ("posts which just contain a quotation"). Maybe I should edit it!
