Probably I won't buy anything from Ebay any more

At the beginning of August I bought stamps from Ebay. However, until now I haven't received them yet. In fact I wrote to the seller twice and was told the mail from USA to China may need 2-3 weeks. And especially it will take a longer time because of the Olympics. Sometimes I will receive mails from USA and usually I receive them for about a week. And usually the mail will send to Hong Kong and then transfer here. This is why it won't take long time. I am not sure what's wrong with it. But perhaps I won't write to the seller any more because it's impossible to check it since it's a normal mail. It's useful to discuss about it. I just wish that my stamps were sent out and probably they were lost on the way rather than I was cheated. It's my first time to buy from Ebay but it let me down. I may not buy anything from it again.

Hi...I am a seller from ebay with this ID. I have not encountered any slow problems in my experience in selling to overseas customers so far. Thank God. I have sent ladybird children books in a box like 3 to 4 times to UK and it arrived within 10 days. I have also sent books to Florida and California. It arrived in 3 weeks. As a seller, I have never bought anything from ebay but only sell. There are good sellers and rotten ones as there are good buyers and rotten ones too. I have encountered rotten buyers who bid and then disappear or the bid and take soooo long to pay up. I get plenty of buyers who just bid and pay but never read listing instructions. These are all the ups and downs.........

It sounds like you have a very good business. Do you also sell from Taobao?

Is the income from selling in ebay stable or is it only seasonal? I'm planning on selling on ebay as well, but I just can't make up my mind if it would be a good investment of time and money...

I have bought a lot from Ebay and I have found sometimes the sellers are very slow in actually posting things, even in my own country things have taken quite awhile to get to me, so don't give up yet, most sellers don't like to spoil their reputation, I hope you get your stamps..

It's really something you can't blame ebay for. You have to keep in mind that the person selling you the item is not ebay. In the future only agree to verified trackable shipping and only deal with people who have a good rating and a lot of confirmed sales behind their name.

I used to sell on eBay but left because of their unfair policies and high fees. However, eBay does care about the time and costs sellers extend to the buyers. Since 9/11, customs is the primary reason for items taking so long. I shipped a beautiful Burberry handbag to Canada and it took almost 4 weeks for the buyer to get it shipped from the USA. I don't ship to Canada any longer not do I ship to Mayalsia because I was defrauded of a $900 Gucci handbag and there is nothing I can do. The post office maintains the bag was delivered to the Mayalasian postal office and therefore, the insurance does not pay. Even a seller cannot control international shipping and that is why I no longer ship outside the USA. Please try to be patient as your package has probably been detained in Customs for a while. http://www.verasgirl.com

I haven't bought anything from ebay recently. The last I've made a transaction was 4-5 years ago. The packages always arrives, sometimes just a bit late. But never weeks late. I don't know about the standards of ebay nowadays. I was planning on selling some items, I don't know what yet, but now I'm doubting if it's a good idea since no one might buy them because of the reputation. I hope you do get your stamps.

It's true that sellers have higher reputation will have more customers. But anyone was zero at the beginning, right?

I agree. Even before when I was actively shopping on ebay, sellers are pretty strict with joybidders, because they really are a waste of time. My first bid, I have to send a message to the seller that I am serious about bidding on her item. That time I didn't understand why I have to do it, but I guess I was really interested in the item that I just did it. Is the reputation of buyers and sellers not the same thing? Or if you have a good reputation as a buyer you would be taken seriously as a seller as well?

All of us begin at zero. I started of with zero also. But nowadays there are many with zero who are joybidders so a seller, I will just cancel the bid of those who are zero or those who are zero have to contact me first before placing bid. That is why buyers have to read the listing instructions in the item.

Hi youless. I am hoping that your stamps will arrive soon. Perhaps the seller used a slower shipping method that will take more time than usual. I have never ordered anything on Ebay but I always say I am going to really do some shopping there. Maybe it will all work out and you'll get your stamps soon. As there are hundreds (thousands?) of sellers there, maybe this problem is a one-time thing. Take care.

It is a really slow shipping method. I think even if this mail was shipped by sea, I shall receive it already but my mailbox is still empty.

Oh, I am so sorry that your stamps have not arrived. I think you ought to contact eBay and tell them that you never got stamps that you paid for. They will do something about it, I hope. Take care.

I haven't bought anything from Ebay yet but based on your experienced its very discouraging. We don't have any assurance if our item is safe or not.I would prefer to go to the store but i know there are people that conveniently shop online. It much easier for them.

It's not the fault of Ebay. If the seller has failed to send the goods, you can open a dispute with him through Ebay.

Hi youless, wow...I am sorry to hear about that! I will feel the same when I am in your situation! Maybe, it has a problem on it's way! Anyway, I hope there is a way you can track it! You will see also in the page if it was sent already by the seller! My hubby purchased a lot of stuff at ebay like cellphone, shoes, clothes and watch and he always got it, yesterday, he received the another shoes he bought there....ANyway, one time when I was looking around, I like a dress from CHina and hubby advised me not to buy it because a lot of his friends are complaining that most of the times, when it is from far places, it will not arrived, so, maybe the problem is through the shipping, I am not also sure!

:There is a great possibility also! if you will not get it, then maybe you can report or give feedback to his/her page! I know also some who were cheated and after complaining, she found out that she wasn't only the victim of the particular seller and the seller was banned after that! We are also very particular about the seller when we purchase something, the number of transactions she/he have and feed backs from customers!

The seller told he sent the stamps two days after I paid for it. So it's quite strange I didn't receive the stamps until now. And I don't think there will be a way to track it since it was sent by normal mail. In fact I often receive mails and packages from UK and USA from my friends and it's no problem at all. This is why I have a big doubt to the seller.

Youless, if he/she sent from the regular snail mail, it will take forever.. Recall my experience of sending the goods to USA, it took for months.. SO, pls pray it will be ok. Also, i consider our TAOBAO is much safer for us.haha~ I am a parttime taobao buyer agent for oversea buyers. I think it's more safer than EBAY. Plus it's free service

Good evening, youless. Please do not feel so upset about the first item you have already bought from e-bay, although I have not tried anything from it. I seem to have heard from the radio that all mails to China would be carefully checked for the safety of the Olympics. So that could be the reason for its delay. I am sure that you will receive it some day during Oct. Good luck to you.

But this time it's a very long term delay. I still receive my packages and mails from UK and it's no problem at all... I wonder how you spend your money in your Paypal account. You know we can't withdraw it since it will charge so high.

Did you check the reputation of the seller before deciding to buy from him? I'll always do that. I have made a few purchases on ebay and all of them went through well. I always read the comments other buyers have for the seller before deciding whether to buy. If the item I like is sold by a seller with bad reputation, I rather not buy.

Perhaps there's really a delay? All you can do is to wait and hope it will arrive real soon. Since it's sent through normal mail, it's impossible for both of you to check. Perhaps it's better to use registered mail next time.

Dont lose hope in ebay. I too have bought from them. You just have to be very careful. Try to always check the seller's feedback score and read the comments. I also sell some of my stuff in ebay and all my buyers have been happy transacting with me. Your stamps may have been lost in the mail. Try not to buy from international sellers if you dont want to wait too long. That's what i do. I buy and sell stuff locally.

I dealt with the same problem last year, I bought my son a Nintendo DS and it had to come from China and it did take several weeks for it to get here. I imagine that with the Olympics going on as well, that it may take a little longer than it usually would.

Mine shipped from Hong Kong as well, but it still took several weeks for it to arrive. It has to go through Customs in China and here in the US.

hi, i'm an ebay seller. although there is no certainty on every thing, in fairness to ebay, the policy's will guide you on how to choose a dependable seller based on their ratings and the number of successful transactions a seller was able to do. were you able to read the reactions of the past buyers of your seller? or maybe you can give your seller a benefit of the doubt. how many days have passed since you paid for the items. it also happened to me once or twice when my item was already paid but i was not able to send it on time because of unexpected incidents. i hope you will get your item. it is fun to buy on ebay, don't lose hope.

well that's pretty frustrating really. the seller should have done some way to console you, well if it's me, i'd do that. or maybe just give you discounts in any case you may purchase from him again. as a good seller, he must have secured the transfer of the items. but heck, there are still unwanted things that really do come our way. but this does not happen all the time. i still suggest you check on stuffs on ebay:-)

I understand your fustration. Did you ask the seller for a confirmation of the shipping? Like did they have a receipt from the Post Office showing that they have actually sent the stamps? Maybe this could help you. I would suggest when purchasing anything on email to get registered mail, this way you can track it and it won't get lost.

Yes, the same scenario happen to me too. On June this year, I bought a cable through ebay. The seller is actually from Singapore. The seller advise me that it would takes about 2 weeks for the item to reach my place. But until now i have not receive the cable. Its already 3 months now and I accept the fact that I will not receive the cable anymore. In fact, it was my first time buying through ebay and had such a bad experience. I tried to contact the seller through ebay requesting the status, however he told me that he wont take responsible for the lost item. Means he wont pay for the loses or even help me to trace the wherebout of the cable. How irresponsible seller. Maybe we should consider few tips before we buying from ebay like 1. Do not use normal mail as it does not have tracking code to trace your item and seller tend to use it as scapegoat eventhough they do not send you the item. Use registered mail with tracking code. 2. Always use paypal to pay in ebay. Paypal provide a system where you could ask for refund if you do not receive the item in 2 weeks time. This is much secure and you wont need to worry about seller cheating your money. Hopes this help..

hello my friend, oh, i am so sorry to hear that you have not received the stamps from the seller.I think you should use the legal way on ebay to protect your rights as a buyer on ebay.I think ebay will protect your right if you appeal this on ebay.you can appeal it to ebay with the reason:i havn't received the items from the seller by the buyer tips in the sit maps on ebay.and additionally, if you pay the seller by paypal, you can issue a paypal dispute on paypal resolution center with not receive the item reason. I think this is the best way to reslove this problem. If the seller couldnot offer you the right and reasonable in the case, paypal will issue a full refund to you. But be aware you should appeal this in paypal within 45 days.It is best period. It is just a small problem. don't worry. good luck

Thanks for your suggestion. I think somewhat it's difficult for me to offer to proof that I haven't received the stamps. It's sent by normal post. Perhaps the seller can explain that he already sent it out. Let me wait for a few more days to see what will happen at last.
