I am going to start a evening class on Tuesday in Spanish and it will last for a year. I bought a book on it a few months ago and I think I will get on even better with a lesson each week. I am really keen on traveling. So far I have been to Spain, Mexico and Guatemala where it is spoken. In the future I would like to go back to Central America and to South America for the first time. Have you ever been to an evening class? If so what did you study? If not would you like to?

I think that a course with other learners will be better than learning at home on my own. I think the Spanish will be great for my traveling. Good luck with studying in a different way.

I think I took Spanish 2 evening class but that was ages ago. I also took a geography class that ended before 10pm. And a couple more at the University. The problem with an evening class, for me, is that I get antsy and couldn't wait to go home. So I tend to focus more on the lecture and just zombie off for most of the class. Good luck!

I meant focus less, not focus more.

Firstly I wish you all the luck my friend and I know you will have the acumen to do it! I sadly don't have the intelligence for learning a new language, it's not something I am good at so I have accepted, I am going to college to learn psychology which I have a keen interest in, it's a morning class on Thursdays from November I hope to learn more about people and myself and relationships etc, I am very much looking forward to it. I shall look forward in hearing your progress!

Hello my friend Wolfie. Thanks for wishing me well with my Spanish classes. I think that you will find your psychology course really interesting and enjoyable. I am sure that it will be fascinating to find out more about people. Relationships may become less puzzling so maybe you will be able to give out some tips. I will let you know about my progress. I hope that you will do really well on your course.

Hi Maxi. How are you ? Yes, it is very helpful to be able to speak the language spoken in the countries you visit. I speak a bit of German, but not Spanish. May be I will learn Spanish from you ! Is that Ok ? That is if you will not charge me too much ! LOL ! Enjoy the evening classes !

Hi Green Line. I am very well thanks. How are you my friend? Thanks for wishing me to enjoy my evening classes. German is a useful language and I only know a few words of it useful for traveling. Yes, I will teach you some Spanish but I am sure I won't become fluent! LOL! Have a lovely day.

Ole Maxine, My mum lives in Spain and although I understand what the Spanish are saying I must admit I don't speak the language, well done for learning something new that will also be an advantage to you on your travels. I studied Law in evening classes and am also currently doing a home course in advanced criminology. I did also start a psyhcology couse but as fell pregnant they wouldn't let me contiue as I would miss vital research study lessons which I thought was harsh. Ellie :D

Ole Ellie. Wow! Your mum is lucky to live in Spain. It is great that you understand what Spanish people say. Well done for studying Law and good luck with studying Criminology. It was mean that they would not let you continue your Psychology course when you got pregnant. I was allowed to continue my Travel and Tourism A Level whilst I was pregnant. I did two exams January then continued getting the course work done until my baby boy was born in May 2007. Maxine

This is very good that you want to learn a foreign language. I haven't learned Spanish yet and I wonder whether it's an easy language to learn. In the past I learned a little French but I found it's much more difficult than English. I love China

Hehe, i'm a English learner. So i think learning a foreign language is a difficult thing if you are not in such a circumstance. But i still hope you can make progress on it as soon as possible.

I just think I will have an evening class. It is kind of far from my house. So, I worry about it. Also, I don't have enough time to go to the class. If I miss some lessons, it is really a pity since I have to pay a lot.

Hello Maximax8, That is good, as the adage goes, learning never stops. Glad that you are taking the initiative to pick up a new language, I am sure it is going to aid you in your future career. For me, the last evening class I been to is when I am in the elementary school for night tuition. It is kind of fun as I get to meet all sort of interesting people. Do enjoy your evening classes too.

First of all, a heartily congratulation from me. I like learning new things and I am keen to earn languages, though I don't speak Spanish or French. I do speak 3 indian languages besides English. Once I joined Spoken English classes and I enjoyed it a lot. After a few years, I started taking English Grammar classes, I mean teaching English grammar. That too I enjoyed a lot. But now I am so busy I can't spare time for any of such activities. Your discussion brought back the memories of old days.

Hello maximum. It is good to start to learn another foreign language for you to understand more people who use a different language. I have never been to an evening class. But some of my students who have already graduated are now or once studied at an evening school. They tell me that they need to learn something more for their work and future. It is good for people to learn on and on. Happy learning, friend.

Hi maximax8! That is very exciting to learn. I would love to learn different languages and one that I really want to learn is French and Italian. I knew a little Spanish at least somehow, from what was retained in my memory because I have some Spanish lessons before but that was a long time ago. I guess, you have to practice speaking the language so you won't be able to forget it. Well, I didn't practice it but I do understand it somehow but can not speak it fluently anymore. Good luck on your studies and I am sure you will find it enjoyable. Take care always..God Bless!

I have taken many evening classes while trying to finish up my college degree. It's nice to go with people who aren't traditional students. I think they have a better outlook on the class and make for better classmates.
