i love animals and i do enjoy that i can spend some moments with them when we are feeding them. i like it when they just stop and just be there next to you and just take there time eating whatever you feed them. i have uploaded a photo that my hubby took when i am feeding the squirrels up in DC (we are there to celebrate fourth of July). they are just a sweetheart. they stop there and just munch all the crackers i got from the restaurant, i didnt eat it with the soup coz i plan to give it to the squirrels. anyway, we fed quite a lot and it makes me happy. they dont even move. my hubby and i both enjoy the environment and we often give animals something if we can. i know a few dont agree with me coz they think it is not good for the animals but we only feed those that do really lives in the area where we are and just wait till they can have something. anyway, be it good or bat - the happiness i see from them is something. back to my topic... do you like to feed the animals when you are out in the park or forest or nature? do you feel the excitement and happiness when they are just out there next to you or on your palm and just taking their time to eat their food. do you sometime find yourself going out just to be with the nature or animals? looking forward to hear your story. good night!

I had a few bird feeders in my garden, and they attracted quite a lot of bird. Unfortunately I was also trying to grow strawberries and my bird ate my berries! I have not refilled the feeders this summer, since I wanted to eat my berries myself. I will probably bring them out again in the winter to try and attract some hungry birds during the cold months. I like to feed ducks whenever we are out walking. There is a small nature reserve not far from where we live and there are ducks, geese, swans etc. It is lovely in the spring when all the ducklings are there, they are just soooo sweet. We have found that geese are the most vicious birds, so we have to make sure that all the ducklings get their fair share. What a lovely discussion, it has really brought a smile to my face thinking about birds and animals.

Have been busy recently, but trying to make more time for my-lotting. Pleased to hear you have plans to encourage animals when you get your own space. I think it is a great idea. Good to grow your own food too, very eco-friendly. I wish we had more space in the garden to grow stuff. It is really satisfying to pick things out of your own garden and they are super-fresh when they get to your kitchen. take care :)

We have a few bird feeders in the yard as well. We also occassionally put up some corn for the squirrells. However, there are lots of hickory nuts in the yard so they get plenty to eat. The birds also enjoy the fig tree. We throw scrap vegetables out for the occassional rabbit that comes along and bread for the crows that seem to hang around the hubby. The squirrells are just so much fun to watch. Especially the young ones. There were two last year that would run from tree to tree, over the top of the hammock supports, chasing and playing tag. We would just sit and laugh. Mind you, the dogs don't really appreciate it. They would like a chance to snag the critters. We don't leave food around when camping and such as you really don't want the animals to become too adjusted to people. There are still a lot of people that would take advantage of that, hunters and the like. That and drawing the deer into the camp site when there are mountain lions around is only going to draw the predators too. We have seen a few of them. An uncertain deer is more likely to be safe from the hands of man. At the park nearby we have been known to carry food for the ducks. Many people do. The zoo has some feeders for some of the animals. The little machines that look like gumball machines. But they are filled with special foods that won't upset the tummies of the animals they are intended for. We like to just sit and watch the animals.

Rest? What is rest? Actually, we spent Saturday moving my mother in law for the 5th time in 2 years. She now is in an apartment in a retirement community. She really hated the assisted living place. I hope she is happy for more than just a few months. I got overheated and sick. It was still terribly humid last week. It is comfortable today. I'm still a bit sore and tired from moving her but that will pass. It didn't help that some crazy person started calling the house at 5:00 am this morning. Wrong number. Maybe next weekend we can actually relax a bit. That would be nice. Oh, and my yard has a long ways to go. I did plant some succulents in a large planter on Sunday. It looks pretty nice. And we did take Jasmine, the dog, for a ride in the country. We had to get back so I could play catch up on the chores that I didn't get to do Saturday though. I hope you had a nice weekend? Blessings, Carolyn

I don't go out walking that often, because it's really not something that I can do due to physical challenges, but when I do go out for a walk, I like to take food with me to feed the various animals that I might encounter. My mother also has a lot of bird feeders out in her yars, and puts scraps out for the deer that wander through there.

Hello danish, your mom us very lucky to get deer visitors, i love to have them in my yards but cannot have them now coz we are living in an apartment complex. we often see them in the park and it is nice to look at them coz they just seems to be so tame and friendly. anyhow, it is great of you to bring food for the animals whenever you get a chance to go out. we dont go out often during summer coz it is way too hot and sometimes humid out here but if if its not too hot then we take advantage of the situation. we have a few squirrels and rabbit at the back door and they sure have a lot of fun when we are out there. takecare

Hi jair, Ohhh..I always love to spend time feeding the animals in the park or zoo since in our Country, it is okay to feed them, so, I have always something in my purse every time we will visit a a zoo except for snakes, I don't like to disturb them...LOL! ANyway, It is really amazing to have them and when they will trust us while we are feeding them, in our yard, i always leave feeds for wild birds since they don't like to come closer to the food when I am around! LOL!

We love to go to the local college. There is a pond there and quite a few ducks that live there. We take them food everytime we go. Our 4 year old now asks to go to the park to feed them. It's amazing to watch them waddle up and take food from less than a foot away. I'm an animal lover myself. I am aware that it's dangerous at times to feed wild animals, but who can resist a duck or squirrel?? :)

hello modmommy, thanks for being here and for sharing your experiences. it is great of you to show your 4 year old (son? daughter?) a loving way to take care of animal. im sure my husband and i will be doing the same when we have our own. ducks are really cool, i have 2 when i was a kid and my mom is upset but she learn to accept and love them. im glad you're an animal lover as well, our world need a lot of us haha. yeah, it is not advisable to feed wild animals but the friendly ones are very hard to resist indeed. reminds me of how my dog was chased by goose haha. anyway, keep up the fun at the park. have a good one!
