If a waitress was rude to you would you tip them or not?

I have been treated rudely by waitresses before, and even if i tell the manager sometimes they don't do anything, they stick up for the waitress, so i feel like, i'm not going to tip if they are so rude. How about you? Did you have any experiences with waitresses being rude?

There is no way, that they would get my two cents.. If they apologize, then I may just reconsider..

I've personally never had an apology from a rude waitress. I would like to see that... i guess i would reconsider but i wouldn't leave as much as normal.

A couple of ti I've left a note, telling the server I'm sorry their attitude cost them a tip. I can't imagine why anyone would reward a person for rudeness!

Yes that's a good idea if you don't want to confront the person, leaving them a note, so they realise later.

Do you think there are less people that want a waitressing job these days? It seems like very hard work, but there is also no reason to be rude.

I know that it was something that was really not nice on the waitresses part. They are always surpose to treat the customer nice no matter how they may act. But there are times when you have to deal with difficult customers. She could have been in a bad mood but still that was no reason to be rude. To tip her yes, but not what you would have tipped her if she was at the top of her game in service. I have been a waitress before and you have to always be nice and not overstated with your customers. Give them space and what they need but be nice and polite at the same time. Sometimes that is hard, customer service is not a easy position to maintain. When that happens and your going to tip leave half of what you would have left it they acted right. Have a good one.

I know what you mean about difficult customers, i have had those before too, having experience in hospitality. I know the service i would like to receive so i treat customers no different to what i would expect myself being a customer. Customer service is the utmost priority in hospitality so that's why i can't understand when people are just outright rude. I guess people have their bad days, but that being said, we shouldn't be bringing it into the workplace either. It's a good idea, just leaving half the tip you would have. I am tending towards too, if it happens again, i would leave half the tip and a note to say, you ruined my dining experience today, i hope next time i come back you will treat me better or something like that, just to get the message across. Thanks for your comments.

I can't stand rude waitresses and waiters. I do still tip just not near as much as I would had they been polite.

I don't think I've ever had a rude waitress but I have had waitresses that weren't very good at their job. We ate out at a late night restaurant one time and the waitress just never came to check on us much. By the time we were finished eating she came by to check if we needed anything and I had needed a drink refill for quite some time. Not only that, she never did come by and give us the few things that we like to have when we eat out, namely condiments and stuff. So, we didn't tip her. We just paid and left because we didn't feel like we should tip her for not doing a good job. There really was no point in my opinion.

That's really bad service. I guess being bad at your job is another turn off when working in the hospitality industry. Thanks highflyingxangel

If a waitress was rude to me I would not tip her because number one I go out to eat for enjoyment and second because I am hungry for something good. I like to use eating out as a relaxing time, if she spoils it then she's getting nothing as my time and money are precious.

Well I don't tend to tip as we don't have any space money to give a tip. If the waitress is nice then I do thank her/him. If they were rude to me I would speak to the boss on the way out.

It's a good idea to thank the waitress/waiter for their service. I have done that in the past when i wanted to thank them for exceptional service. They seemed pretty happy to be told, "hey thanks for your great service today", maybe they hear alot of complaints but not too many compliments.

I think it gets the point across more if you leave like two pennies. This way they know you didn't just forget to tip but you gave what you thought they were worth, and two cent ain't worth sh*t, just like them. Have a great day. Hardluck.

I never complain about a rude server, I don't like to look like a complainer or whiner, I just don't go back if the service is bad. I also will either not tip or tip less, but generally around here, people aren't rude. Though there is this one hamburger place here where the owner is rude to everyone, but that's actually part of the fun, because most people that go there that's why they go, because it's actually pretty funny to hear the owner and one of the customers bickering over nothing.

Yeah if anything will say you're unhappy with the service it would be by not returning.

If a waitress is rude to me for no reason, I would not tip her. But at the same time, I would not allow her to disrespect me either. I don't like it when people are rude at work. You're out for a nice dinner, and her job is to be your waitress. Whenever I'm working, I'm never rude to my customers.

That's good. Yeah me too. I have worked in the hospitality industry before too and we were always told, customer service is our top priority. That's why i can't understand it when people are so outright rude in the service industry. I mean it's the most basic rule of their job! Thanks for your comments.

Well, nobody can do anything to you if you don't tip. It's your choice. So if the waiter or waitress does not earn it like she is supposed to, I don't see why you have to tip her. I've never had a rude waitress, though. But you should always tip a good, otherwise nice waitress. They are trained to be nice. That's what they do.
