I have uploaded a pic of our new arrival. Many of you know the journey I have had to find a new dog for our home and I was supposed to go and see a litter in two weeks time and choose my pup. Well it turns out they are pure bred spaniels so will now be being sold rather than rescued so I started my search again today and bought home this adorable Collie calles Ziggy. Have you ever gone to get something and ended up with something else. I know I do it all the time clothes shooping LOL. Ellie:D

There is a saying that goes ..You never miss what you never had. so you had the other puppy and you won't miss it. I see the pic of Ziggy and he is a fine looking puppy. And your son looks to be very well satisfied. As for shopping I always get more than I go shopping for and sometime forget what I went shopping for in the first place. Congratulation on the new puppy.

I have been trying to get my stories up on ac, so I could get some residual money each month. I have a lot of stories so it will take some time. I also read them over and edit the before putting them up there. Thanks for asking my friend.

Hi Winterose, I am not the only one that does this then eh! I now have a dog and two cats. Ziggy has really settled and been accepted by the cats which is good but it meant lots of extra fuss from me to reasure them they were still in charge LOL. Thanks for sharing. Hope you are well as I haven't seen any posts from you lately. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi Ellie..how lovely you must be overjoyed with your new pup, I love the name ziggy, it is unusual..there are many times I've gone out for say shopping and known exactly what I need or want to get but have always come back with other things as well as the shopping in a sense I hate doing that cos at one time I was really good as to not be so frivolous that way and am trying to be like that again but yes but is it a hard thing to do..Huggles littleowl

Hi Littleowl, Ziggy is already being a very good boy and even the cats are okay with him, he is wary of them which is a good thing. I think he may grow to be fairly large looking at the size of his paws. I am glad you have Chips and Pickles to give you lots of love too. Huggles. Ellie :D

Oh ellie, I am so pleased you found your puppy at last!! I know what you have gone through, I joined in one of your previous discussions about what dog you should have. You have chuffed me this late in the evening to know it has all turned out great. And I have to confess I have just taken in a new puppy too, he had the stupid name of Chippy (someone payed me lots of money to take him on.) Well he's now "Zorro" coz he's got banded eyes, he is getting on with the other puppy like a house on fire. Great news ellie, thanks for sharing it!

Hi Ritz, Thank you, I did update so far from the last discussion. I am pleased that you are pleased to see that my quest has now be fulfilled in giving Ziggy a loving home. The mark of Zorro eh! You had five I think at the last count, does this make six now? Both my son and Ziggy are soundly sleeping now but I know I am going to have a busy day tomorrow. Ellie :D

Wow Ritz, That is fantastic as having that many to look after can work out very costly. Ziggy has settled in well and although wasn't paper trained is now, he has been so good. He follows my son round like a shadow but yes they are wearing each other out like you say, he was definitely meant to be for us. Quite an intelligent young thing. Ellie :D

Yep, it would be six, but the very old big guy (German Sheppard) went back to his rightful owner today, so its now one big female and four small mixed up funny things who all play together and wear each other out, great that, like kids tiring each other out and sleeping, like yours right now. I cant be wrong can I? The woman who wanted rid is very rich and gave me 300€ to take him and has promised to feed all my other dogs for 3 months, thats like a gift from heaven.

Actually when we went to pick Reggie out of the litter we picked another dog. There was a lack of communication between the owners and the one we picked had already been spoken for. Reggie was the runt of the litter..and turned out to be one of the best family members I have ever seen. I know you will love your new puppy! Congrats!

Hi Jill, I have read the story of Reggie so this mistake definitely happened for a reason and at the moment Ziggy and my son are both fast asleep and after initial hesitation even the cats have accepted him. I know I will have my work cut out with the training process but just seeing these boys together (my son and Ziggy) is going to make it all worthwhile. Ellie :D

Hi Guybrush, This is what I thought too and Ziggy is delightful and has been so good so far. He has been my sons shadow bless, but I am being really strict and although not paper trained he is now so an intelligent pup too, sleeps half in and half out of his bed though and slept in the cats one too last night much to their digust LOL but they will all get used to each other and the pup is more frightened of them. Hi Mommasam, At present the cats are still top dogs LOL as the puppy is wary bless. My son and Ziggy have a bond already but I have been fussing the cats so they don't feel pushed out and they all slept together last night in the same room, the cats and dog that is not my son LOL. Ellie :D

Aw Ellie he's adorable!! where did you find him? I'll bet your little boy is made up! It's a shame that the other ones turned out not to be suitab;e as you seemed excited but it obviously wasn't meant to be, and besides if you'd have watied for them you'd never have got your ziggy!! I go out all the time and end up getting something other than what i was looking for, like you usually when i go clothes shopping!! Years ago though, me and my mum went shopping for some rabbit food and came home with a budgie!! lol you can't take my mum anywhere near a pet shop without ending up with a new addition to the family!!I think this one was a wise choice though, you'll have to let us know how he settles in! big love xxx

haha yeah the rabbit never seemed very interested in eating it! lol Aw your little boy's got a new best friend for years to come now!! It's good you saw both the parents, am not an expert but i think you're meant to when you get a puppy!! haha Well it sounds as though he's really landed on his feet and gone to a good home where there's no shortage of love! I like the name, it's a bit different, better than rover or something!! lol enjoy him and give him lots of those famous huggles!!! xxx

hey babes collies are excellent natured and i'm sure they will wear each other out. I'm sure you got him for a reason just like people animals come into our lives on purpose you already know i was mainly a cat person but i love my chew more than life itself. I'm so happy for you the picture is super cute. Looking forward to plenty more. Kisses mands

Hi Mands, Yes everything happens for a reason and I do believe he was sent to us as he needed a loving home bless. He is laying fast asleep at my feet at the moment but when my son is here he is his shadow. They do wear each other out and I get on the Lot once they are both fast asleep. I am working later so my childminder has become a dogsitter too now, they don't mind so I am very lucky there eh! I had a collie cross growing up myself as a child. This other pup will have another home to go to that will be right for him and the woman told me Saturday, it is not guarantedd you can have one now as I have lots of perople interested and yet the revious week it was a certainty. I reckon as she is a kennels and not a rescue centre as such now she knows they are pure bred she wants to sell them so it wasn't to be, but I am now upset at all as Ziggy just seems so right for us. The cats are okay with him too and I have made an extra fuss of them and told them they are still my babies, daft as I am but I am sure they understood. LOL. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi Moondancer, Both my son and Ziggy are sound asleep right now, they have both worn each other out LOL. What a routine we now have in the mornings, up, wash, dressed, feed cats, dog, rabbits, fish and go pick some bramble for the stick insects too and today being Sunday we clean the hutches too. Also had to repot some plants so busy busy busy but fun. It was love at first sight with Ziggy though and he has a loving home bless. Ellie :D

Hi Ellie. Congratulations on getting your adorable puppy Ziggy. He looks adorable and it is so great that he has become best friends with your son already. I really like Collies and know that they are quite easy to train. I wondered who the sire of the puppies born to the Springer Spaniel was. It must have been the same breed because the puppies are Springer Spaniels. So you got your puppy earlier than you expected so that is wonderful. I had to have a non moulting breed and Miniature Poodles were expensive so I got Secret in 2004 and Magic is 2006. I bought a DVD and video combined recorder. When the fitter arrived it wouldn't work so I took it back. At that moment I changed my mind and bought a DVD recorder. I got rid of all my videos and bought DVDS. So I know what you mean about going shopping and ending up with something else. Maxine

Hi Maxine, Thank you, he has certainly fitted into the family well and is like my sons shadow at the moment bless. I think Ziggy was meant to be and the house feels more like a home already. I can't wait now until he has had his innoculations so we can go for a run on the beach. I am in the process of getting the DVD version of my favourite videos and are passing them to charity shops as and when I do this LOL, but I don't often come back without what I went for but just extra LOL. A couple of years ago I went to the humane shelter to adopt a dog that looked just like one I had lost (put down due to health issues). Before leaving for the shelter, I told my mother that I was going to name the new dog "Oliver", which was my fathers (passed away) middle name. When I arrived at the shelter, the dog I was interested in was totally crazy- my mother cares for my dogs while I'm at work, and I knew she wouldn't be able to handle such a wild dog. So, I started looking at some of the other dogs- his roomate was an adult Weimaraner, who was laying there calmly as another dog was biting at his neck and trying to get him to play- the Weimaraner wanted no part of it. I looked at the name tag on the run... the shelter had named the Weimaraner "Oliver". It was meant to be. The shelter requires a 24 hour waiting period on adoptions, but after they spoke to my vet they waived the waiting period and I had him home in 2 hours- thankfully he's still mellow (Weims have a reputation for being wild), and a truly wonderful dog.

Hi Sidyboy, Oh I love Weimaraners, I nearly got one but they are going for £750 here. Oliver was definitely meant to be eh! I think Ziggy came to us this way too as I love the name Ziggy and I think the other one if we had got wuld have ended up being a Harry and they were the two name choices. He has settled in so well too. Thank you for sharing. Ellie :D
