i am not a professional to tell exact opinion.but in my personal opinion the free anti virus is avg as it is fast, will not affect system performance and detect most of the viruses.and in paid section my vote is to nod32.norton is also very powerful but it takes most of your system performance.

Hey, you are right, no one likes virus, I use Nod32, it is said to be the most popular anti-virus available in the world, and I do mean it is good.

Lots of users are happy with Avast and AVG. They are free and perform well. Review sites like toptenreviews.com are a good place to check also. Im using BitDefender right now on my Lappie with Vista. Its a all-in-one, anti virus, anti spyware and a software firewall program. Works well so far.

My current anti-virus is the free AVG sofware. When I started using PCs many years ago, I installed McAfee and I think then, it was the anti-virus program to use. Then I switched to Norton Anti-virus after a few years, and that served me well. I decided one day that I didn't want to pay for such licences anymore, so I searched around and found that many users are using AVG for free and there are good reviews about this software, so that made me switch to AVG. I have been on AVG for about 3 years now and I generally find it good and effective.

I use the paid version of AVG. As the others have said, the free one is good, but the paid one is better. I also have several spyware programs. Spybot, Spywareblaster, and SuperAntispyware free to help keep by computer worry free.

One of the best antivirus I have been using is Kaspersky, you can download a 30 days trial at Kaspersky lab.com Otherwise a good free antivirus that I have come across is bitdefender, it keeps my PC clean, later and good luck ;-)

I am using a NOD anti virus and so far its the longest anti virus I've used so far because it is really very strict with the viruses especially with the trojan viruses which many times attacked my computer when I was using AVG at that time.
