Have you ever been to Germany or Austria?

When I was younger I took a few trips to Germany. I liked the historic architecture and the romantic looking castles. I liked Bavaria most of all with it stunning looking mountains and the city of Munich. I enjoyed seeing places along a scenic stretch of the River Rhine. I have taken a number of trips to Austria. I loved seeing the fortress in Salzburg and going on a Sound of the Music tour. Have you been to Germany or Austria? If so where did you go? If not where would you like to go?

I hope you win the lotto. Maybe an Inter Rail for one month or a weekend in Salzburg would be budget travel ideas for you.

I have been to Germany my friend, we stayed in the heart of Berlin, so we were able to see all the historic places, checkpoint charlie and the East and West divide, the wall or what was left of it! Steeped in history, it's a lovely city and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay there. We went on the transport system in around Berlin and we were fortunate enough to have a friend who lived there to show us around and take us to the best places. Austria would be a place I'd love to go to but so far never been to. Too many places, too little time I fear!

Thanks for your excellent response my friend Wolfie. It sounds like you had the most amazing time in Berlin and having a friend with local knowledge of all the best places was great. I have a friend from Stuttgart and he has a cousin that he didn't meet until the wall came down. I hope that you go to Salzburg because it is a real gem. Also if you pop over to Cesky Kromlov in the Czech Republic would woud love it there. Travel is my top hobby. Will I ever see all the places on my travel wish list I wonder. Your best trip is yet to come and that will be New Zealand I hope.

More great memories. Went through Check Point Charlie and spent about eight hours in the then East Germany. The contrast to the West was amazing. I loved Austria, but couldn't to stay long. It was too expensive on my budget.

I am afraid I have never been in Austria. For some reason I always skipped it, even though it wasn't on purpose. It's still on my list though :) I did go to Germany a few times and I enjoyed it a lot. I went when I was a kid, with my parents the most times. And I went once by myself.

Yes ma'am , I have been to Germany and Austria. To Germany , many times , to Frankfurt, Hamburg, Berlin, Bonn, Dusseldorf, Munich, and some other places too. Oh yes, Munich is a beautiful City. I was fortunate to be there once during the "Beerfest", everybody so happy ! I took a River Rhine cruise too. Austria , yes. To Vienna and Salzburg too. I went to the Philamonic Orchestra in Vienna. That was so beautiful and amazing. I like classical music, and that was the place for it !
