Press the following on your mobile *#06# and the-international mobile equipment identity number appears. Then check the 7th and 8th numbers: IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are 02 or 20 this means your cell phone was assembled in Emirates which is very Bad quality IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are 08 or 80 this means your cell phone was manufactured in Germany which is Fair quality IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are 01 or 10 this means your cell phone was manufactured in Finland which is very Good IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are 00 this means your cell phone was manufactured in original factory which is the Best Mobile Quality IF the Seventh & Eighth digits are 13 this means your cell phone was assembled in Azerbaijan which is very Bad quality and also dangerous for your health. Hi! I was just wondering if this digits refers to a particular brand. I've checked my phones and found that I've a 30 on a 7250, a 01 on my LG Viewty KU990 and Samsung i450 when both are supposedly made in Korea, a 01 again on my HTC TyTN II and HTC Diamond when both are marked with made in Taiwan, a 01 on my MotoRazr V3xx(made in China), and a 10 on my Dopod 585(made in Taiwan)and a another 01 on my SE K800i and 00 for my NEC N600i and Philips 960. I know for one that HTC is a Taiwanese company and it makes more sense for them to assemble it in Taiwan then in Finland. Similarly, LG and Korea are Korea brands so its a little unusual that they will manufacture their phones in Finland, with costs being much higher. Last of all, my Philips 960, a 00 had given me the most problems out of all my phones, going into the service centre 3 three times. Thanks for discussing this though, 'cos I never thought about hidden meanings beneath the IMEI.

wow! my phone is made in finland! wow also coz you know a lot! i should tell this bits of information to my sis then see if her unit original or not. the phone's originally finnish when we bought it. i thought mine's german or something but i was wrong. my unit is an old 6680. i love this phone! the case is faded and rough brought about by rough handling. all parts, all original. i's supposed to sell this one to buy a sony ericsson k800 but i changed my mind. cadbury's made in emirates are pretty bad too! lol.. it's crunchy!
