Black Cats: Do you believe they bring bad luck?

Hello Back in ancient times they were thought to bring bad luck. Also, because with witches there always are black cats. I dont think they are bad luck at all. I think they are beautiful and esp the ones with green eyes. I have 3 black cats and they are super nice and loving. I have known a few people who think they are bad luck . Like my gram , but once she was able to see from my one black cats that nothing was gonna happen she warmed up to him.

I'm not really sure where the belief that black cats cause bad luck came from. I believe there is some historical reason for it. Part of me knows it is silly to believe that a black cat would cause bad luck, but I still feel worried when one crosses in front of me. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry.

I have a black cat and he is a total sweetheart. I do not see him as bad luck. He loves people. He gets excited whenever he gets to meet someone new. He also greets my husband and I out the door every morning when we head off to work.

No, i don't believe that Black Cats bring bad luck - it's just a silly superstition that got a lot of black kitties hurt just because of their color. I agree it can be called racism in a way...

no.. i don't believe is black cats brings bad luck. they just say that, because looking for reason to bad accident. black cats is animal too, don't be racist !

I never understood the superstition about black cats either i have always liked black cats. my first cat that i ever had gave birth to 4 kittens and 3 of them were a striped gray color and the other one was pure black. i sat outsite of a grocery store to give them away. the gray ones went really quick but no one even looked at the black one so we ended up keeping him. i remember that when he got older he would take off for days at a time and then come back all scared up with twigs all stuck to him but at least he always came back. i dont have either of them cats now i wish i did but we moved and they just took off from the new house we moved to. they were both really good hunters so i know they survived. just off the top of my head i think black cats were always associated with witches and evil type stuff like Halloween. I have never thought that way about them and have always liked black cats.

I'm not really a believer of this but when I see a black cat, upon instinct, I avoid it! LOL! yes, I think it is because of the color. I do the same with dogs and anything black. Then I just say a little prayer while trying to get "away" from them. LOL! during these times, prayer is still the best companion. Haha!
