On day, my best friend and I were hanging with a new friend (actually, i had a crush on ths new friend). And we were talking about the usual stuff that me and my bestbud talk about: sports, cartoons, movies. And in the middle of our discussion about the new cartoon shows on Disney channel the new friend suddenly said: "Grow up,j. It's not right anymore that you act like a kid, you're already 25". I was quiet for a while and was silently thinking, what makes one to be considered "mature"? That statement she uttered then lead me to think about the things i enjoy doing. If my new friend thinks i'm immature, here are the things i'm interested in and you be the judge: *cartoons - i love watching cartoons, obviously. *basketball - i play basketball in college *sports - i'm into all sorts of sports *video games - i enjoy playing video games and pc games *comic books - i love comic books and i used to dream of becoming a comic book artist os a cartooninst *animals - i love animals and would like to be involved in animal rights activism *human rights - i like humanitarian organizations and i try to be active in humanitarian organizations (vday.org) *environment - I'm concerned abou the environment *tv shows - i'm addicted to tv shows like heroes and all the shows in the discovery channel (almost all, hehehehehe) That's all i'm gonna share for now. Hehehehehe. Now given all those interests, do you think i'm immature?

mmm i'm with you on this one jj just because we still retain some of theat childish enthusiasm and occasionally act younger than our age is that such a bad thing. I'm still a big kid at heart my birthday (27th) i mainly got socks pjs and scooby doo items (framed film reel, big teddy etc). Does that make me immature as in many other ways i'm very mature i live on my own am trying to get my own business of the ground been in a long term relationship for 10 years. I like the childish part of myself keeps me young, keeps my iagination and creativity active. Kids grow up to fast these days i'm with you as long as you're silly behaviour doesn't hurt anyone go for it!

As long as you have a job, can support yourself, and you are pretty independent, then that right there makes you a mature person. People who are "children at heart" can still be mature. I still play Tetris, watch animated shows, read comic books and graphic novels, and I consider myself pretty mature. I keep my house clean, earn money when I need to, take care of my cats, and do whatever needs to be done, then when I have some down time, I do what I want to do.

Who wants to be mature? That takes all the fun out of life. I think you should do what you want to do and enjoy your life as much as you can because you will find that the time will come all too soon when it isn't that much fun any more or there are lots of things you just cannot do anymore. I find it amusing that it is always teenagers and people in their 20's who worry about being immature. Once you get past 30 you start to think of all the fun you used to have and don't any more because you once thought it was immature. When you hit 50 you stop caring about being mature and start wanting to have fun again because you realise you have made your life too serious and it can stop being fun if it gets too serious. I do not think your interests are immature. Hang on to what you love doing and if your friends tell you that you are immature just say "who cares!"

You are 25 years all. I think your interests are fit to your age. You cannot learn maturity. You have to gain matuarity by experience and time. When you bear more responsibilities you will get matuared. More you face your life more you matuare. So try to learn about the world and people in addition to your interests so that you will become more matuared. Don't have any hard feeligns about what your friend said. All the best.

just because you watch and talk about cartoons that dosent mean your not mature, to me what makes someone mature is there ability to make responsible life choices and being a kind and understanding person and as long as your hobbies dont interfere with your responsibilities there's nothing wrong with staying in touch with your youthful side, i just dont get why people think that being a mature adult means giving up anything fun and not watch cartoons or playing video games thats just ridiculous to me because i play video games and watch and draw cartoons and iv been told by many people that im very mature so i dont think what you do in your spare time has anything to do with your maturity level its how you conduct your self that makes a person mature.

I think it is the way one thinks that makes us mature, it is alright to be childish at times but when it comes to making important decisions do you make the right ones. A Mature person will balance their thoughts and actions and at the right situations. Sometimes you have to be a kid sometimes not, most importantly be yourself. Happy mylotting

For me maturity is being able to handle things that happen in your daily life with the proper attitude. It is being able to choose what is right despite the wrongs in life. I don't think that watching cartoons nor playing video games makes one immature, if it's your happiness then they should let you be.

There's only one way to describe a person weather he or she is mature, by the way he or she acts. Like when someone is mature to think for others, a mature mind is someone who acts on righteousness, one who is mature helps others, one who is mature helps other in turn of trouble, one who is mature is not selfish and act on non selfishness and one who is mature leads a group to a success. A leader is a mature person and has all the necessary thing in him or her.

For me being mature involves points like. -Responsible to any acts done whether results are ok or bad. -Does not based its decision making on senseless things and/or not biased. -Great amount of patience, do not easily get mad even on critical times. Calm -Listens to people's idea and suggestions. Open minded. -Accept fault specially when corrected and learn from it. -Know when to get serious and when not to.

Maturity is not something define. It is gained when one knows who to handle situation in a commencing course of action. The accurateness of doing decision for your life, and ability of corrective thinking for the benefit of all, not just your inner self. For me being responsible begets all virtues, perhaps one step to say you are mature enough to handle things.

I do not think that you are immature. Your friend just has a different opinion than you do. You shouldn't need to care very much about such a little problem. Every one has different opinions, it just depends on what your talking/discussing. Me, i think your friend is wrong.

Im 23 and I love watching Pocoyo! haha. I even love Shaun the Sheep. And yes, I think I am not immature. You cannot measure maturity on what you watch on TV. I guess you can measure it on how you react on things. When faced with a problem, how does one handle it? When you're having trouble with another person, do you kick his butt or talk to him politely? How one Acts and Reacts determines maturity. I guess knowing what is good for the welfare of others will give you a high score in the maturity scale!

I've always considered the term mature to be a very relative one. It's relative to your age as compared to the thinking and acting process of a majority of people of the same age group with more or less the same cultural, educational and social background. It also has a lot to with our practical experiences in life. So keeping these factors in mind you can best decide how mature or immature you are.

watching cartoon movies doesn't makes any one immature rather i would say the one who judges ppl's maturity on this criteria is quite immature him self .watching cartoon movies is an innocent way of relieving one's self of day's tensions .reading some book is a serious way but it certainly doesn't make some one mature specially if one is reading a comedy book .

Your responsibilities and your ways will only decide whether that your mature person or immature person i think your not that mature because your stating your intrest and wanted to know whether your mature or immature this itself means that you aren't upto the stage and i think more than a maturity you shouldn't be ignrant of things.. im shortly 20 but even my friends comment that im not that mature to my age :'( it happens in life.. we should take everything positive :)

Mature is a big word. The fact that a person likes cartoons does not make her or him immature. A person can be mature in one aspect and immature in an other aspect of life. One can be mature in terms of reasoning but can be a baby emotionally. I don't know you personally to be able to make a judgment. However whom am I to judge you?

True. And thanks for not being too quick to judge. However, i forgot to add up there in my discussion that i already have a job and an upcoming dream job is on my way. And that is why i was puzzled if it makes one immature even if youo've already accomplished a lot in life hutb is still into cartoons.

Maturity comes as per your age and experiences. You see how child start walking. he falls several times, but still he continues to get up get up then finally learns to walk like his parents/us. like this way everybody becomes mature as per their falls from their life. But maturity counts a lot.
