Getting Paid for Your Photos

Can anyone refer a website they have used that will pay them or give them a commission for selling their photographs? I am looking for something legitimate. I don't want to sell the rights away to my artwork, but I also want my images protected, so people can't just right click on their website and steal my work. If there is anyone who could help me out I would really appreciate it!

You should look into selling stock photography. When you upload your image, they watermark it and only post very low-res images so your work can't easily be stolen. Plus, you still own all of the rights to your photos! You're not selling your photos, your selling the right to use your photo for a very specific purpose outlined in a contract. The stock site I have had the most success with is http://submit.shutterstock.com/?ref=2197 However, I have more information and links for other sites on my website http://lindsaydean.com/sellstock.html Besides selling your photos, there are other ways you can make money with your photos online! My favorite is on this website http://skillfights.com/signup?ref=294 It's an art competition website. You create different art competitions, enter your photos in competitions created by you or other users, vote for your favorite photos, rate photos you like (or don't like), leave comments, etc. Anytime you do any of that, you earn points. Also, when others vote for your photos or rate your photos, you also earn points. These points can be cashed out for money deposited directly into your PayPal or Moneybookers account. You can request a payout at any time once you have $5 worth of points. It's a fun, easy way to make money with your photos! Another way to make money is on this site http://www.shareapic.net/ref.php?owner=trickiwoo With that website, you upload an unlimited number of images into your gallery. Then you earn money for every pageview you receive! Also, you get credit for viewing your own images once a day. So if you upload 100 photos, then view each of them every day... that's 700 pageviews each week! If you send the links to your friends and family, you'll get even more pageviews! Plus, every month you can submit one of your photos to be considered for a front page feature to get thousands and thousands of pageviews! You can also join http://www.triond.com/ With this website you also upload an unlimited number of images, and get paid for your pageviews. The best part about this site is that you only need 50 cents to get a payout! So it's very easy to get paid every month! Another great site is http://viewbug.com/ You join and submit your photos. Then every week the owners of the site select a handful of images and award them cash prizes ranging from $10-$40. They also have 2 themed challenges a month. The winners of these challenges are awarded cash prizes ranging from $100-$400. I've won several prizes on this site! It's a lot of fun! All of those sites are free to join, and legitimate! I've had a lot of success on all of them! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Hello. I also use some of the sites already mentioned, but the one who has worked more for me is Fotolia, where I sent some pictures I took during my photography hobby, and if the pics have a good quality you can get a good pay for each pic. Once you get approved and you can upload about 20 pictures to the site that are accepted you are on business 24/7, this is a very serious site. Check it out at http://eu.fotolia.com/partner/191568 or just send me a message and I will send you more info. Regards

Great answer trickiwoo. Thank you for the sites that you've shared. I am into photography also and been looking for others sites that could allow me to earn while sharing my photos. As of right now, the only site that I am a member is ShareAPic, sad to say that I haven't received any payment from them yet though I already earned more than $40 from them. According to them it is already on process.

Wow Trickiwoo. Great response!! And very descriptive of each site. I'm going to check out all of them and see what I can come up with. I'll pass this along to my sister, too, since she has been taking a lot of pics this past year.

If you're really serious about trying to build a portfolio of pictures on a Stock website, I would highly recommend checking out this guys website: http://breakchange.com/microstockdiaries Microstock Diaries will help you understand the basics, as well as the advanced stuff like improving your Return Per Image rates. The guy that runs the website makes a great return per image, as compared to the average. He has a solid portfolio built up on SEVERAL stock photography websites, and has great recommendations on ways to streamline your time. Last month he broke the $1000/month mark off his stock photos. Off course there are people making more than this, but it's just great that he shows you what he does.
