How do you do your scrapbooking?

Do you have a system that you do or do you just do it? For instance, do you crop all your pictures at once or do you wait until you're ready to put them in your scrapbook? What about your scrapbooks? Do you have different ones for different subjects? Like, one for pets, one for family, etc. Or do you go by dates and start from the beginning and add them as they come along? So far, I have one from the start of our marriage (which goes way back LOL) and I started one for our Grandson (that was easy because he's only 2 months old LOL). I was thinking of making a seperate one for pets and one for vacations. What do you do?

I normally don't crop my pictures until I'm actually doing the layout. I have a small file that I keep my photos in with any tickets, etc. and dates, so that I don't have to try to remember when it occured. lol I have many different scrapbooks. I have one for each year that me and my s/o have been together, a little over 3 years now. So much goes on in a year that I decided to do one for each year. I have one for our dog, one each for his career and mine, I also have a scrapbook, 'across the miles' for cards, letters, etc. from family, since I moved 1600 miles away 3 years ago. I also made two 8 x 8 scrapbooks (one not done yet) for the scrapbook retreat weekends I have gone to (one coming up at the end of October. As for the one that is our's for the year, I scrap it chronologically.

I am little insane with my scrapbooking, as I've been told. But I have a scrapbook for each of my kids, a series of scrapbooks for everyday events (from when we got married), a special interviewed scrapbook, one about me for kids when they are older, a Girl Scout scrapbook (mine), my daughter's Girl Scout scrapbook, and one for every "big" trip/vacation I have taken. Oh, and one for my husband and his running career. And one about me (before I got married). My everyday event one is by date (mostly). I suggest that you do whatever makes you feel comfortable. Eventually I will be doing a "random" scrapbook for my mom of her photos. Hers are all messed up and will take too much to put them in order. I will organize my photos, decide on my theme (paper, embellishments, etc), and then do it. I crop my photos when I sit down to scrapbook as I use them on the page. I also work on 2 page spreads at a time so they look good next together in the scrapbook.

I made scrapbooks for each of my kids a few years ago. I did it all on the computer. Some of the pics I did for all three. I started from when they were born to the present date of when I did the books. I also included pics of their Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, cousins and some of their friends. I must say I think they turned out really good. I like doing that kind of thing. It turned out to be kind of expensive tho because I had to keep buying ink for the printer. But they were for Christmas presents for them so I didn't mind. I took me a few months to get it all done and I had to keep everything a secret which was hard because 2 of them were still living at home. LOL Now I'm doing books for me. I'm doing them different then I did those. I'm using the actual photos when I can. I've started one from when we first got married. I'm up to the year 1986 LOL. I also started one for my Grandson. I plan on doing one for pets, vacations, one of me before we got married and one of him. Thanks for the reply.

I don't think i have a system, i do set up the page the way I want it first then crop and set them even with the stickers and words. I do have separate albums for family, my relationship, and camp. I also have one for everyday things I do with my friends and church family.

After 13+ years I finally did it. I put all my pictures, from when my first child was born (more tan 3,000 pics) on memory cards. Instead of buying one of those digital frames, I set all my pictures as my screensaver for eveyone to enjoy!!!

I always plan out my pages, using an outline. And then of course, I lay it all out. Then I do all of my cropping at once to get it out of the way. I get all of the paper products and photos down and in place, and then start on the embellishments...like brads, and eyelets. I save any stickers or rub-ons for last, though. And I really don't use rub-ons anymore, b/c they're hard to work with and they take forever. Happy Scrappy!

When I get the time to scrapbook, I do have a bit of a system. I never realized it until you started this discussion. I look through my pictures for the ones I want to use, then I pick the paper. After that, I do any cropping, then I play with placement and embellishments. As far as the albums go - I have one for each child, and then a series of ones that I use for family or everyday layouts. I have a bunch from different vacations as well.

usually i have to have a whole day allotted to scraping... my husband takes the baby out and gives me some peace and quiet... i do have my pictures in albums by subject until im ready to put them in the scrapbook... but i usually just figure out what the book is going to be about and then dig through the pictures for each page... cropping as i go etc... i do have my by theme/idea such as i just finished a book for my SIL about the first year of her twins life... so every page was a month... it turned out really cute, i am also in the process of doing my wedding/honeymoon album, and will be starting a baby book for my son soon...happy scrapping
