Due to the hurricanes, gas prices are going up. I know this to be a BIG maybe for NC, anyway. As of midnight tonight, the gas is going to be aroun $5.35 a gallon! Something about them having to slow down product because of all the recent storms/hurricanes. Right now, the price of gas at the nearest station to me is only $3.65. That means it's going up $1.70 overnight! They're suppose to mention it on the news and my aunt who works at a gas station told my mom eariler today it's more than likely going to happen. This sucks - majorly. It seems it just got to where it was finally going down!

Where did you hear this at? I only ask because when September 11th happened a guy came into the place I worked and claimed gas was going up to 5 dollars a gallon then. I'm not sure how much of an increase Katrina caused but gas here, I'm in NC by the way, has been around 3.55 for about a month. We have been getting hit by hurricanes for years and I never recall it making gas go up like this till now. I still don't buy the prices are legit and I have even heard the true price of a barrel is $70. Yet for some reason the price is still over $100. I understand supply and demand but this is just crazy.

Well, I'm not sure where you are in NC, but, it's suppose to be on WXII tonight (infact, they're talking about it right now.) You can check out your local news or visit www.digtriad.com. Also, my aunt works for a gas station and they get a fax each either week or night, letting them know how much it's going to be for them to fill up so they can decide how much to charge a gallon. I don't remember it going up for hurricanes either, but, it seems it will be. I also remember back at the beginning of summer it was going around that gas would be at or above come October. Maybe they're just using the hurricanes as an excuse?

They announced on our local news this morning that gas prices are going up due to the hurricane. But they should start going down next week. I look at it as price gouging because it's taking advantage of all the people who had to evacuate,,and there were millions of them. They did this during Hurricane Rita, not only gas but motel rooms, etc. I think most of them got fined for it though. It's a shame people take advantage like this.

This gas price thing because of the Hurricane is just crazy. I live in Lexington South Carolina and the gas here hasn't risen very much maybe about 10 to 20 cents since the announcement of price hikes. But across town the prices are up to $5.23 a gallon and some stations were only allowing 8 gallons per car. This morning my granddaughter said that the prices seemed about the same as last night around #3.67 and just a few stations had any line to speak of. Posting time is 10:00 am 9/12/08
