I had been a fried rice eater but since I learned a terrible idea about it, I minimized my intake of fried rice. It contains carcenogenic substance, from the process of frying, very dangerous to our health. I got this information from an acquaintance of ours who happens to be a cancer survivor. Accordingly, the frying procedure of rice creates a chemical reaction to the food especially if the oil used is not a vegetable oil. Do you believe it's still healthy to eat fried rice? I'm baffled. Can you please share you knowledge on this matter? THANKS TO ALL!

This is the first time I've heard about a specific danger to health related to fried rice and I'm afraid I can't share much knowledge since I haven't come upon reliable articles when I started searching after I saw your topic. But I love fried rice. So it's the combination of rice, non-vegetable oil and frying that creates this carcinogenic substance? Hmm, I don't know if this will make me consume less fried rice. They always have something bad to say with every food we eat so we also have that to consider. Plus, I think there are a lot of "healthy" fried rice recipes out there.

Nothing fried is good for you that is why the key is moderation. Too much of even a good thing is a bad thing. Just eat it but not every day and the same for other fried foods.
