Have you upgraded to SP3 for Windows XP? Is it really more secure than SP2?

I'm currently using Service Pack 2 for Windows XP Professional. A friend has told me that I should upgrade to SP3 stating that this upgrade absolutely necessary because it's much more secure than SP2. I don't have a lot of free space on my computer. I'm wondering if the upgrade is really necessary? What do you think? Did you upgrade? Please share.

The first time the upgrade was offered to me it made my OS unstable and hanged out. But the 2nd time I gave it a try and it installed successfully on my PC. I really do not see the changes it made but as they say it is a secured update as they have upgraded all the security measures on my PC.

I'm a bit worried about installing PS3 if it can make the OS unstable. My computer is over 3 years old, I guess I have to take this into consideration as well.

Oh yes its really dangerous if you will continue with it. I remember that one that crashed was when I was still on my old processor now that my processor was core 2 already it was not much of a hassle.

I have updated all of mine and am having no problems with sp3 in fact it has helped my system and running very smooth now...And I updated also didn't want those annoying updating popups...I was nervous at first but seems to be going awesome

hello my advice, don't upgrade, the XP SP2 is just Perfect and i use it since 2 years npow, and believe me there is no need to upgrade to SP3 cosit's a waste of time and you will get a lot of Troubles with it. Goodluck!

i am also using sp3 and it a bit better than sp2 but if your computer dont have a problem and your computer dont need a reformat yet, you dont need to upgade

Service pack 3 is nothing more than trash, there's nothing so important in it. Only tones of unnecessary fixes and "protections" and those bla bla stuff. Stay on service pack 2

Yep and i dont see any difference .... i guess its just a pack of previous updates...
