Mickey Mouse Must Die Says, Saudi Cleric

I just read unbelievable article and I thought of sharing this with all of you in the hope that I am not going to be disillusioned by this hallucination of one religious cleric individual. The cleric, Mr. Sheikh Muhammad Munajid, a former diplomat at the Saudi Embassy in Washington, was asked to give Islam teaching on mice during a religious affairs programme broadcasted al-Majd Television, an Arab television network. He said that under Sharia, both household mice and their cartoon counterparts MUST be killed. According to a translation prepared by the Middle East Media Research Institute, an American monitoring service, he said: "The mouse is one of Satan's soldiers and is steered by him." More of his absurd and ridiculous excerpts are below: "According to the Islamic law, the mouse is a repulsive, corrupting creature. How do you think children view mice today, including Tom and Jerry?" "Even creatures that are repulsive by nature, by logic, and according to Islamic law have become wonderful and loved by children. Even mice." "Mickey Mouse has become an awesome character, even though according to the Islamic law, Mickey Mouse should be killed in all cases." No offense here to the Islamic quarters here, but I feel that this is really extremely unnecessary and overdoing. I am sure this is not going down well with people who already have an awkward impression of the Muslims. I felt that he should at least have carefully think over before he speak. Is this called responsibility? Is this called teaching rightly? Where is his common sense? Mickey Mouse and the rest are just CARTOON children folklore characters, no matter how and what impressions that children might have on these characters, I am sure that you will agree with me that when they (children) majority are afraid of a real live mouse when they see it scampering around the house and the streets. Why? I think the reason is simple, a pest is still and always will be a pest. I am also defending my favorites here, where they have brought so much enjoyable and laughter during my childhood days. So, what about you? What are your views on this matter?

IT is heir islamic belief and we need to respect it even to some it sounds ridiculous. As for me, I will not contest because I don't want them to contest my beliefs as well. That mickey mouse is one of my kids' favorites.

i'm not going to comment. this isn't because i'm outraged or supportive, but just null and neutral. words are words, and he's making a statement branching from their religion. i can't say because i don't know the aspects. this may not be liked, but Christianity is the bases of society. in Christianity we see the "snake" as being the evil creature sent by god, so snakes and the devil went hand in hand. in their belief its the same. Cartoon mice like Jerry and Mickey are American based cartoons which have grown international coverage. you would expect there to be differences. his statements will NOT give me a negative view on Muslims because as a roman Catholic i should know the 'disgrace' so to say, that one out spoken person can do for that religion. One person's statement can't always say true for the majority. just take one priests public marquee outside his church reading "I KISSED A GIRL AND WENT TO TELL" playing on the hit song "I Kissed a Girl" by Katy Perry. Things like that here happen all the time. The religious rantings of someone can offend a lot. But its not something to get mad at because if you're christian, your religion does it as well.

i explained in in there. we don't do the same thing, but christians would make certain statements. for instance against homosexuality. if you're talking towards symbolism towards animals, the snake is a sign of evil. if you're talking about him making statements that are outrageous well, sheesh, there are so many examples of christian/caothlics who do the same exact thing.

Here's the clip. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=BmgFQiaYEdk The more I learn and hear about the cult of Islam, the more I laugh. Some people call it "organized" religion. Islam is about as far as you can get from organization. There are so many dumb rules and laws, I don't know how anyone can keep up with them and keep them all. It contradicts itself over and over. They used Mickey Mouse, Farfour, in Iran to teach children how to hate Jews and stab President Bush, I guess he has to die too?? This is the "religion of peace" that thinks they have the best governmental system and think the world should do the same. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=XP8z1hM7u4E&feature=related http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=hUx5DeEPvWo&feature=related http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=D8SyAMromyA Here is the real Mickey Mouse http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=OJFeTZLVPbc Lol, I'm thinking that maybe in their twisted confused minds they think we teach our children to hate like they teach theirs. This is the "religion of peace" that thinks they have the best governmental system and think it's their responsibility to force everyone in the world to live as they live.

How ridiculous! Who's next..... Donald Duck because he doesn't wear pants? Porky Pig because he has a speech impediment? It should come down to the parents of the children whether they wish to allow these cartoons to be watched or not. Mighty Mouse should get himself over there and kick some a@@!

ROFL!!!!! I totally agree with you. It is the parents decision to let the child watch whet he/she watches, and how much of it. I have 3 kids all under age 5 so I gotta be really careful. The 19 month old likes to get the remote and change channels, so I put in parental controls so she dosen't see something that she's not supposed to. But for cryin out loud! Mickey Mouse!!??? Whatever that guy was smokin', he totally fried his brain.

q)where is the proof in these terms that Jesus was God a)Mark 1:10. As Jesus was coming up out of the water, he saw heaven being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. 11. And a voice came from heaven: "You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased." and as for the trinity for me it is easy to understand to my parents _------- I am child to my children --------I am mother to my husband ---------I am wife these are 3 personalities or aspects of me yet they are all me so it is with God the holy spirit--------is comforter the Father-------------is LOrd and power the son ----------------is saviour 3 aspwects of but one God!

saikyo, Keep to the discussion, this thread is not about Christian and Muslims. So be a grown up here, instead of asking people to grow up. Have a life.

Lets not be too harsh here. I think, what the guy was saying is that, in Islam they believe that mouse, mice and that should be killed because it is satans soldier and for that matter cartoon characters should too. For me, it is OK because, that is islams belief and I respect that. They did not or should not allow those kinds of shows in their country. BUT he did not say that, it should be killed as well in other countries. I think every country has their own right what kind of programmes they could broadcast same thing as parents wants their kids to watch. My daughter LOVE Micky Mouse so much, that she has a stuff toys, that she brings to sleep with her. She cannot sleep without it. Micky Mouse shows are very educational, my daughter learns a lot from him. I think he is an exception to those satan soldier...

Sorry for commenting on your response, but I don’t think it’s as innocent and it sounds. Such propaganda slowly but surely is widening the gap between the concept of ‘us’ and ‘them’. Cartoon characters the world over are viewed as just that…innocent laughter material for kids. Until and unless it’s specifically promoting some agenda, they should be kept out of the periphery of religion. And like it or not, Disney characters are typically representative of the USA, so banning them is another way of brining up generations of Muslim children on the notion of the West vs Islam. Now that (I feel) more and more mainstream Muslims are getting tired of the terrorist thing and trying to assimilate with multiracial societies, these hardcore clerics are searching out newer and more innovative ways of sustaining their campaign of hatred and Pan-Islamization.

It sounds extremely odd. I was quite fond of all those cartoon characters when I was a child but it had no effect on my views regarding actual mice. They are small and very fast and people are usually scared of them. I have never met anyone who confused cartoons with reality. I do not like mice in my home and I try to get rid of them when they are around but it is hard. I live in a rural area and mice are just one of the things that happens in rural areas. I cannot see them as anything to do with satan. They are just a creature like dogs, or possums and like all creatures they are part of God's creation but then so was satan according to religion. I think that some religious people are far too eager to blame "satan" for anything they do not like or cannot control. It is wrong. Just because a minister or cleric says something is wrong does not make it wrong in my book.

skysuccess what the muslims do in their own country is none of mybusiness but do not let them try to teach that crap to our own children. Let them keep their uptight religion of killing and etc in their own country. after nine elven we want none of it in our cou ntry. we cou ld not trust them, too many lives were lost and we suffered the consequences of their reign of terror.

Of course I think it's a bit ridiculous, but certain people will always go to extremes... People always try to make everything out to be a big deal. It's the way the world is and there will always be SOMEONE doing it --

I am simply astounded! Are they going to bomb Mickey Mouse, Tom and the rest of the gang? Or are they going to employ Jerry and Garfield to catch these mice and put them behind bars? Talking about hallucinations, illusions & idle minds! When the whole world is now facing economic difficulties and natural disasters; there are people who still have the time to disturb a few mice (cartoon characters)? Amazing!

I would request you not to get injured and rather rest assured in peace as we are also creatures of this earth. Let the Islamic cleric indulge in stupidity and let him refer his religious text to take arms against the little micky who we have learned to love. These clerics, may be he is a muslim or a christian or even a hindu or even more a buddhist, are encaged in a very small space and have been taught to be blind and deaf and have been taught not to allow others space enough which may please them. They do not have freedom of thought and nor do they like to spare the same to anybody. I have seen many such in India and of different faith. I love micky as you do and micky will live long for you and me, that is, for all of us.

saikyo, Why should we check this link when it has nothing to do with what we are discussing here? Please stick to the point and not hijack this discussion to make your religious statements and/or rebuffs. You can always start a discussion on your own, yes? No thanks to Arabian Nights.

Not to mean any disrespect to the Islam religion here so don't take offense if I say something mean. I really think it's kind of stupid for them to want to kill all mice. I mean what have mice done to them.. It's even more weird that they want to kill off Mickey Mouse. That guy is awesome! How could you even think that? Personally, I think that's dumb. I don't know if I'm missing something but how the heck is a mouse Satan's creature? Do the mice turn into heartless monsters and eat everything up when you're not looking? Sorry if you've been disrespected even in the slightest by my post.
