I think 4 years old is too young to have heavy task like home work you said? But it depends upon the kind of work he has to do. We all know that kids love fun. At this age, kids would not be given work like older kids do. If his home work is interesting in his age, he would love to do that. Like reading? use attractive pictures of let him draw and identify. I think at 4 the kids would not be given hard task because it makes them feel bored. And their attention span is short. 30 minutes is the most. It is not good to force the child to do hard task because it will make them feel bored and hate to go to school when they are at the right age. 4 years old is too early for a kid to be given hard task in school.

you just have to make everthing a game when me and my 4 year old practice spelling we throw a ball back and forth while we are taking turns spelling, she really enjoys it.when it comes to reading with her i just get short books that way it will keep her attention and help recognize the words.she loves getting praise and rewardsalso for doing good or trying

My 4 year old son is in kindergarten. First make sure he doesn't have too much homework. Talk to his teacher if he does. It's normal for a kid his age to not be able to concentrate or sit still for too long.

What kind of studies does you son have at 4 yrs old? I can tell you, I use to teach in an early childhood learning classroom. The kids were 4 and 5 and I would never imagine sending them homework home unless it was something fun and fast. Kids at that age can't concentrate on one thing for any longer than 15-20 minutes max. If you are trying to get him to sit down and do a paper for longer than that, it is over! Give him a reward after the 15 minutes of doing some studies...and always make is fun for him. For example....If you are working on letters, write one letter on a paper and have him glue fruit loops on the letter. This is teaching him the letter and working on his fine motor skills. When he is done, he gets to eat some friut loops as a snack.

I guessed the best way to do with your problem was to pretend that you are his teacher in school. Make it a playtime for him so as he is doing his homework as well as he is playing with you. In that case he will no realized that his homework is done.

I have encounter some kids that are really hard to get into thier studies coz they love to play most of the time. Maybe you need to talk to him and tell him if he do well in his study and study hard his lesson you will give him a reward. Like you going to buy his wants if he going to concentrate his study. Only that i can advice as of now. Happy myloting.

Good Day, i'm not parent but i took care of my nephew since he was 1yr old up to now that he is 4 yrs old and its a long story why i take good care of my nephew instead his parent will take good care of him, based on my observation, at this age of a child, they are on a stage of exploration, like your problem, i find it difficult to teach to write or send to school, and i must find a solution to teach him the basic of course, will i do is i bought many poster that has alphabhet on it, sometimes play marbles and i count it, i'm amaze he counts after me, i teach him with out forcing him to learn, this stage the child follows what he sees, and this is the stage of curiousity, anyway am sure you can find a way, like i did. good luck
