What do you blow your nose on? Years ago all there was was cotton handikercifs, now we have paper tissues. We have tissue boxes all over the house to ensure the children blow there noses. We also do have a few cotton hankies, for special events, byt still tend to use paper tissues. When I was a girl, you always had a cotton onwe to take out, used to get told off for chewing the corners. My dad always used a cotton one. Just think of all the germs that would fly into the air when you pulled your handkie out of your pocket?? Clean answers only please??!!! But saying that, when you wear a child you must have wiped your nose on your sleeve many a time!!

I have always used Kleenex. Even when I was a child, I never blew or wiped my nose with anything gross. I have never used my sleeve that I can remember. If I did, it was probably when I was very young, like 2 or 3.

Hi there Anne18 When I was younger I used to have a cotton hanky to and my mum used to make me keep mine up my sleeve as I wore clothes that didn't have pockets!! We have boxes of tissues in nearly every room but I will grab a bit of kitchen roll or toilet paper if it is nearer! When we went to my brothers wedding last year I tir dyed some cotton hankies to match my boys shirts that I also tie dyed!! They looked really cool!!

When I was a kid I used to blow my nose in a hankie or else on my sleeves when no one was looking around. :) When I met my girlfriend who later on became my wife the first thing to do was to make me get rid of all the handkerchiefs and start using disposable tissues.

I use toilet roll, I have never ever bought a box of tissues, it is lots cheaper to just use toilet roll. The only time I buy tissues is in the little packs and I only buy them if the kids have a cold and they can take them to school. After all I would not dream of sending them to school with wads of toilet roll in their pockets!

I blow my nose on tissue, toilet paper, paper towels, I don't use cotton handkerchiefs, I have not had any of those since I lived with my grandmother ages ago. Back in the days, that is what most people used, we didn't think of all those germs then but now it seems gross.

My grandfather always used a handkerchief, but everyone else in the family just used tissues. We thought that tissues were better because we could just toss them out when we were done with them, not spreading germs all over the place. I always keep tissues, or even clean extra paper napkins from a restaurant i might visit, in my bag, incase I need to use them.

hi anne oh yes we graduated from carrying cloth hankies to using much cleaner Kleenex tissues. thank goodness for that. I blow my nose on kleenex now, and I once used my sleeve in an emergency which my mom didnt particularly like either.Yes the old cotton hankys were full of germs

I blow my nose a lot, and I guess people near me don't mind that much since the place where I live and work are mostly surrounded by people I know. So I don't feel embarrased when doing it xD. I also tend to do it alone since here there's alot of dust. Very annoying but there's nothing I can do, just blow my nose =).

I always prefer using a paper tissue because i never got into a habit of using a handkerchief. Besides i dont like keeping a handkerchief with my nose in it in my pocket. I always keep a pack of tissue which has enough tissues for blowing of my nose and keeping it clean.

*LOL* I read this three times, trying to figure out what long distance or collect calls had to do with this discussion before I realized what you were saying. That is an interesting way of saying it.

If making a trunk call means using your fingers to pick your nose, yes, that is what he means.*LOL* I have never heard it called that, either. Hubby calls it digging for gold.

I tend to use tissues after one use and i'll throw them away replacing it with fresh one from pack. It's much more hygienic in my opinion than a cotton handkerchief that wont be clean till it's next washed. Although saying that I rememeber as a child I use to have cotton handkerchiefs with animals and childrens cartoon characters on them.

Now, tissue, and if really necessary, leaves. When I was really young though, it would be whatever was there, especially my clothes.

When I was a child I remember wiping my nose on my sleeve like most kids do. I blow my nose now on toilet paper and paper towels or even tissues. I remember my grandfather used to carry around a cotton handkerchief and he would use it all the time. I am sure if you use the cotton you could spread the germs. The tissues aren't much better today cause some people might hold on to it and use it several times before throwing it away.

i used to use handkerchief as well to blow my nose when i was a little girl... but as i grow up, i prefer to use tissue paper to blow my nose as i think it is cleaner and more hygenic... i can discard it straight away as soon as i finish using it... i feel disgusted sometimes if i have to use handkerchief to blow my nose... especially if i have to use the same handkerchief many times to blow my nose... that is really disgusting and i just can't do it... that's why i swap to tissue paper... take care and have a nice day...

I don't remember what I did as a child. I am sure I did all the things other kids did, blow on the bottom of my dress or on the sleeve or something. Now, I use a kleenex, toilet paper, or a paper towel, or napkin. I don't carry a cotton, cloth one even for special occasions. (Still haven't figured out what a special occasion for nose blowing would be*L*.....Just kidding) I stick a small package of tissues in my purse when I go out.

When i was a kid i usually wipe my parents shirt when i blow my nose lol but as i grow up i use tissue. I cant live without tissue. I cant even stand a day without it. I just dont use it for blowing nose but i also use it to wipe my sweat when it is getting hot outside.
