Exam depression

There was a time when I had an exam in school. I was very confident that I would do really good in that exam, but when the exam papers were returned I got a low score. I was really depressed and regretted on my overconfidence. I said to myself I should have studied more and not get my hopes very high for that exam. Have you guys ever experienced this? What are other experiences in exams do you guys have?

Yep, I have often been blown away by what does (and doesn't) end up on an exam, or test. I've gone in feeling sure I'd do fine and done quite poorly. Then had it go the other way too, where I was concerned I'd do poorly and did fine. Six of one and half dozen of the other, sometimes you just have to pick up, brush yourself off, and plan on doing better next time. Beating yourself up never helps. You just start doing a little more studying day to day, not cramming the night before (do that too though, lol) and it will be okay. Talk to the prof too and tell them your score was lower than expected, maybe you can do some sort of extra credit thing, some will like that idea, others won't. Just cheer up, okay! It is just PART of the grade, so keep it in perspective. All the BEST on the NEXT one!

Thanks, I guess I really should have a positive outlook for this and try my best not to get depressed. Although hard I might as well try not to cram that much and do all my studying day by day. :)

I have definitely experienced this. Now that I am in college it's not happening so often because I have a little bit more knowledge and have gained a lot of studying skills when I was in grade school. Mind you, I still have a hard time with certain things like, what exactly should I take notes on, and all that fun stuff lol. Like others might say, it's always when we least expect it that we score really well. And when we think that we did well we score badly. I have no idea why this is so, but our brain sure knows how to trick us!

I agree, there are even times when I got all the answers to the problems yet still got some mistakes here and there.

hahahah that always happens to me! whenever i think that i have done the paper well i would eventually get a low score!! and when i think i have done the paper badly!!, i would get a score that i have never expected!.. i dont know how it happens? and why it happens?? but it always happens to me!! hehehe lol!! but i dont put my self down!! for that reason .. coz i understood that when ever i expect good mark from a paper, either that paper would have been easy as a result of which the correction would have been more strict!!! and this is the vice versa for a tough paper... where i expect to get low marks , the corrections are made lenient

Good to know that you have a positive attitude towards it! I guess I should really look at the bright side and do well on my next exams. :)
