Have you ever interacted with a Hacker. I had an oppertunity (?). ODESK Issue.

Well, after a long time I am forced to reveal this incident at Mylot, as i am not sure what happened ??. Some of you might have known to ODESK. I am a active member of this site(www.odesk.com). Before a month i have applied a to a job posting there, Then selected for an interview. During the interview process, i found Odesk has canceled that job posting saying Illegal. I didn't know what type of the job was, and then contacted the Buyer(Who posted the Job). I had a long conversation with the buyer over yahoo messenger(At this time, job was canceled at O Desk),in spite knowing that, i move forward. During the steps the buyer provided, i followed up without knowing exactly what i am doing. During the process, he gave me one user id & password of a site and asked me to upload my PAN Card (Identity Proof) and assured me nothing wrong with it. So, i uploaded my PAN Card. Then, the site asked for telephone confirmation. At this point i could not able to provide this confirmation, however i uploaded my PANCARD. My concern is that, y'day when i want to have a look at those chat conversation which i saved in my hard disk, was not there. I want to make it clear that, all the files were there(i,e. only file names, (all were text files) however there were no text(content) inside that file. Those files exist with all the text vanished. Is it possible ? I remember, i kept those text files in a separate drive in my disk. How the content of the files can be removed. If the hacker want to delete those files, he/she could have done that, however files are as it was with no text inside. I have searched Mylot for ODESK users & found some mylot members are also active in ODESK. So, if any body have any idea how is it possible & if it is happened with me, then i am afraid for the other information that i had with that drive. So anybody have any idea or suggestions would be appreciated and last thing i want to let you know that, PC i am talking about has exclusive access to me only. So there is no chance of misuse by any of my friends or family.
