Your Christmas decorations? After seeing that my local supermarket had put out all their christmas decorations the other day it got me to thinking about buying a few new decorations this year. Now when it comes to christmas decs I do not over do it, I like it to look tasteful but not overpowering or to any extremes and I never put anything outside either. But some do. They go far, way to far!! So which are you, tastefully so, or all out with the whole house and garden covered in lights and blow up snowmen and santas?

I've never been one to go all out with christmas decorations, in fact i'm a bit bah humbug about the whole thing! I haven't lived close to family for several years and have lived alone too so it all seemed a bit redundant! Last year my mother forced a small tree on me, and it did cheer the place up so this year i might make a bit more effort and try to get in the festive spirit! lol xxx

I cannot be bah humbug cos I have kids! I guess if I lived alone then I would to be honest, but a few decorations would be nice, I love the fibre optics.

I think that christmas loses it's magic unless you have children and you can have the excitemen through them!! I'll probably get a little tree this year as i have my family close by now so other people will be coming over to enjoy it as well!! xx

I used to go all out with my Christmas decorations. I love the lights and the decorations but I am not sure if I will do a whole lot this year or not because my electric bill is already outragious.

No, the electric bill kind of spoils the fun a bit. I shall be watching mine too this year.

I love decorating the house during Christmas but the most important thing for me to decorate is my Christmas Tree. Every year my kids and I make it a point that we add at least 1 new decor to the tree. It's sort of a family ritual. For the house decorations though we make use of old Christmas decors and add new ones that we personally make.

We just have fibre optic trees, but the kids love to put tinsel on them. I do like to put the decorations up but I just do not do all of the house, only one room.

Christmas already? I would like to be able to decorate and make things nice in my house and on my windows. But, since I don't have so much money any more, I guess I will wait and hope that next year will be better. Mean time I will look at the happy decorations from neighbors and the light decorations outside. That will also make me smile. Merry Christmas.

Not quite but my shops are full of christmas! All the decorations I have are years old, I have kept them each year, they can be quite expensive to buy.

Yes your are right about that. My parents (they live in Holland) have saved up a lot of old decorations. In Holland you have a lot of Antique stores that would give you nice money for these things. But, then again, money cannot make up for the memories. LOL. Take care.

We just put a little snowman on our doorstep or a wreath. Other than that, we have a tree and that's about it.

Hi gemini, I haven't tried to decorate our entire house before..I cannot afford it..LOL! When I was single, My Sister and I will put some decor outside the house and some lights but not a lot! Here in our hubby's house, we will only decorate inside and maybe a little lights outside, none in the garden! I love it to be simple also because I will always think about the electric bill..hahahaha!

Yep, those lights are the real drain, which is a shame cos there is something beautiful about twinkling christmas lights.

I don't go overboard with Christmas decorations. We just have a tree and some balls and stuff with presents underneath the tree and some lights.

I didn't even bother putting up my Christmas tree last year. We go out of town before the holidays every year and don't come back until New Year's. I just didn't feel like going through the hassle of getting everything out and putting it away when I wasn't even going to be there. My mom goes all out in decorating though. I haven't decided whether or not I will decorate this year yet.

I guess there really is no point decorating if you are not going to be there, I do not think I would either!

My christmas decorations? Leave a lot to be desired lol ,im definately not repeat not into grottos, where there isnt a space left on the ceiling to hang any more!my friend had for years put the entire content of the local woolworths on her ceilings, plus she hunts the local markets in search of a new toy, usually an angel that talks and moves it wings, cringe cringe.I have an artificial tree which gets some baubles stuck onto it,and a few little other decorations which get put at the back of the pictures, and that as the saying goes is MYLOT.i BOUGHT A FEW NEW BAUBLES LAST YEAR SO THEY WILL DO FINE,AND ANY THING ELSE i WANT CAN BE DONE bLUE PETER STYLE LOL MAKE IT MYSELF.tHE CASH AND CARRY WE WENT TO EARLIER THIS WEEK WAS OVERFLOWING ..oopsie..with all manner of christmas decorations, and they were being loaded into the trolleys as if they were going out of fashion!

I know the one I was in was just all christmas, full of toys and gift sets and all these decorations. I just think it is so tedious putting them all up, and the ceiling in my house now is so high that I probably would not even be able to reach it with a step ladder!

I'd like to do a bit more than we do, but can't really afford it. We put our tree in the front window, hang our stockings in the house, we have a few holiday knick knacks we place around here and there. Then we hang lights outside the house, and last year we hung a strand of lights inside the house. That's about it. I'd like to do a lot more, but it's difficult to do sometimes. But I love to see the houses all decorated. I don't think there's such thing as going too far, but sometimes the decorations can look too cluttered. But the more the merrier to me. We love driving around looking at all the houses.

I only put up the decorations in one room, but I might just buy a few more new ones this year as well, I like the musical things.

Decorating the outside of my house is the only thing I like about the Christmas Season. Most of the time I don't even put up a tree. (Did buy a pretty awesome tree last year though. It's only about 3 ft. tall and lights flash to symphonic music. That's the only reason I it, for the music.) Strange, yes I know, but hey, it's me we're talking about here. LOL

I used to get more into Christmas decorating when I lived at home with my parents, because they have most of the supplies, but now that I live alone in my own apartment, I have very minimal decorations. Each year I put up Christmas lights inside and set up a small artificial tree. If I had a yard, I'd put up Christmas lights. I used to do that for my parent's each year until I moved out. I kind of miss it. Maybe I will go back to their house this year and put up some lights. If I had more money, I'd go all out with decorations for my apartment, but alas I have to worry about expensive rent first.

Some decorations can be expensive, but I usually get any new ones either now when they first start appearing in the shops or just after christmas when they go down in price!

I just want the decorations to be simple and tasteful. Usually, I just put the lights on the trees in the garden. I hang some lanterns in the doorways and have this not so big star in front of the house. I ain't fun of decorating Christmas trees or something. I just focus on the night look and the ambience of the house during midnight to emphasize Christmas is in the house.
