I have started a thread about adoptions which has around 65 responses at the moment. I am having a difficulty in giving the best response award because there are several good responses and it is difficult to choose the best one. One what criteria would you award the best response award. Have you ever found it difficult to give the best response award?

I wait a bit before picking then I usually go with what sticks out the most to me and you can tell when a person has really put a lot of thought and effort into a discussion!

He can give lots of people a positive rating, for a good response, but he can only choose one response as the best, and that is his problem. Like you, I am sure no one will be mad. He can comment and tell people that he liked their response, too.

It can definitely be really hard to make a decision ronaldinu. Especially when you have many responses! It all depends on my mood I guess when I choose a best response. Sometimes I choose someone because they have made a lot of effort and have continued to discuss the topic even beyond their first reply; and sometimes I may choose one because there is a single response that is so unique or humorous! I have many to catch up on myself actually and I am NOT looking forward to it!

You may of made a ;ot of discussions but do you respond to a lot of them that is one thing I would look for as if someone is takes time to respond to you it is nice to give a good quality response back.also the other thing is responding to other peoples discusions those sre the two main things I would look at to see if you deserved one...littleowl

Wow,pretty good responses you have.I hope one day I can have~~When the responese more than 30 I think, you will face the dilemma situation coz there did have some quality ones.Since my posts didn't have so many responses like you,it will easy for me to go throught all of them and choose the BR~~Good luck~

I have to confess I have that problem and admit that a lot of my discussions are quite old and I still haven't awarded best response, but one thing I make sure is that I am never biased and I have in the past awarded best response to newbies, and I am careful not to award best response to just my friends. The criteria I use is if it's informative, interesting and well thought out, if the case is you have more than one discussion fitting those categories then you have to weigh them up or else get someone else to vote or assist you, failing that it's how much they written, it's certainly not easy my friend, good luck!

I haven't posted too many topics but even on those rare occasions I have sometimes found it difficult to give a best response. When I had to choose between a few responses I almost wished I could just close my eyes and stick a pin in my monitor. Unfortunately I couldn't do this, so I looked at the ones from which I had to choose and I chose the longest one. It might not seem fair to the others but I couldn't think of any other way apart from writing all the names down and picking one from hat. Best of luck with your decision.

I have run into this before when you get a lot of really good responses and it does make it hard to figure out who to give it to . Usually I try to reread all the ones that I really like and see if someone was able to offer a little more then someone else when I run into this . Did one person take more time trying to get their point across then say another person ? If it was the same advice who offered it first ? Things like that :) It would be nice if we could pick more then one best reponses but since we are not able to do this just try letting the others know that you did like what they had to say . No one will be upset with you because they were not picked as we have all run into this at one point or another . Best of luck picking :)

I usually go by the content of the answer as well as the relevance of the answer to the actual question. Sometime I ask for clarification on some of the responses. I also see if the responder is willing to come back to provide these clarifications. So that is my modus operandi for rating the best responses. Cheers! Ram

65 responses? Wow! That was a great number of responses there. I have never had so much respondent so far. I know some people really encountered problems like you did, ronaldinu. I suggested them to ask the people who had a good answer. Sometimes, some people are just a hit-and-run responder and they wouldn't bother to look back, but sometimes someone is a really good forumer, and they would go back to your discussions again to answer your question. I think that way you could just reduce the amount of the candidates

I do give my best response to those person who respond on my discussion that do convince the feeling of sincerity of response and the rest I just give them a positive rating if there will be new response that deserve also to have a best response but you already impost it.....

Hmmm. I don't really have a hard time picking the best response. The moment I read someone's response that made me laugh, inspired me in one way or another or that really got my attention I pick that as the BR. I don't wait for as many responses. For me, it' first come first serve. ;D

Yes, at times I have difficulty picking a best response. But I never get that many responses to my discussions that it would become a problem for very long. I would just eventually pick one by the length then. The longest one. Why? Because the longer the response the more time the person put into it, at least in typing if not in thought. I don't think marking a best response is all that important anyways. I have tons of them and I still only have a 9 star. I don't think we get any kind of credit for being awarded a best response or for giving one either. I still give them out because I like to keep a clean house and don't like having a bunch of them in my unresolved file. Alrighty then, talk to you later my friend, Have a good mylotting day, Chris

i know its really difficult to select the best response when you have so much responses in bulk but if i was the one to mark i would just mark the one which would have answered my question, cleared my point of view and have something really quality and is worth it. but i think there are chances, in so many responses you can find more than one which consists of all factors i mentioned above may be st that time you find difficult to find the best one.

woo, how could you be so good at creating new discussions? i can hardly imagine a discussion attracting 65 posts. well, i normally give my best response to the longest, but sometimes, a short to the point one deserves it, too.

I also have this problem with one of my discussions which had gone over 50 responses. Just cannot choose one so many of them are good. I have not yet given it but soon I will and it will be most probably someone from the first three pages.

Well till now i havent found it much difficult because i havent got too many responses but still i will say you need to give it to the answer which you liked the most, its like the answer you were expecting or you wanted it to be the way it is....
