Have you or anyone you know ever been discrimated because of your age ?

Yes because when I go to work they think I am to young to do my job right. I know how to do my job and dont' like that the older people casue they have been there longer think I can't do it cause I am younger then them.It is an easy job and a kid could do it so they got to realize they are not all that smart if they think there age can do them better.

[i]I haven't experienced that yet but I remember an office mate who was treated like that by the owner of the company where we were working before...They were 3 of them who will always hear bad comments and words and we hate it because between the 3, we are very sure that the 2 office mate has a lot of contributions in our workplace, they gave us so much ideas about we really learned a lot from them! I do know why some people will treat them badly, maybe it was the indirect word from the administration for them to file an early retirement which really happen to the 2 office mates..They leaved and retired![/i]

Never in the workplace, but I have found that certain people I know outside of the workplace have treated me differently because of my age. I am not "typical" of someone my age, don't share a lot of the same interests with people my age, and prefer the company of older people. Most are wonderful, but there are a few out there who think I do not fit in because of my age.

Well, I once was working at a hotel, doing front desk work. I think thatthey discriminated against me because of my age. I was a lot younger than everyone else there, and they all had families of their own. So, I didn't get as many hours until a new manager was hired. I worked mainly only on weekends, and I was paid every 2 weeks. I think that they assumed that I didn't need as much money as everyone else or something. I really didn't have anything in common with the other ladies who worked there. I felt so out of place. I wish I would've said something, and been a lot more assertive. I will never let a job treat me in such a way again. Now when I work, I go to work to do just that. To get my money, and be on my way. I'm a really hard worker, I was always getting rewarded for my work. I know now that I need and deserve money just as anyone else does.
