I would like to think that the future of IT is very strong! There's new technology coming out all the time, and it tends to be out of date after two years, then you have to update your knowledge. I for one love computers and I'm into computer maintenance and installation. I have just completed a course in computer maintenance and installation. The book that I'm currently studying updates every three years so I'm going to have to purchase this book every three years for the rest of my life. Why would I do this you say? Well, I love books and so this is a personal method that I choose. I know that you can constantly update your knowledge using the Internet as well. I'm very sorry to say, your friends have a very negative attitude concerning IT. Maybe they have had bad experiences themselves. That doesn't have to be the way for you though! I can virtually guarantee you, someone is going to employ you with the skills that you have. You just have to constantly put yourself out there and never give up. Remember the positive thinking technique? Well, it really works if you apply it. Good luck, you will make it. Andrew

Whoever said that there is no future in IT and that they don't get paid well has been living under the rock and probably doesn't know what the internet is. 70% of the United States Workforce is computer based and by 2012 90% of the U.S. work force with be computer based. Having these skills and especially degrees to deal with information tech is going to come in handy one day.

May be your friends hasn't seen it's scope or just saying it because he heard it from some one else. I myself Am thinking of doing this Asp AND . net course but i can't afford it hence thinking of working and earning. i do a lot of part time online beside mtlot and hope to raise enough to complete my course

IT is the future, no one can say otherwise. But the question is: For whom? The scary about it is that we might be at the end of Era of electronics. Meaning, IT is growing rapidly and the concept of electronic circuits might not be enough and might get considerably slow, thus new way will be developed to catch up with the speed-hungry world. New technology to use light (photons) instead of electrons in circuits is being developed which will increase the quality of the output and speed thus reducing the electronic science and engineering to almost useless state. On the other hand, We might be at dawn of IT as the current technology will develop and the current engineers will be the next IT generation's Sages. It is a mere opinion and excuse me if gone too far with my imagination (Although photons circuits are being considered). Don't set me on fire, please!

Hi friend,The future for I.T will be bright, but the out going students and the present students 90 percentage of the students only opt for I.T.So when all these students come out every year how will the I.T industry have jobs for the whole lot of younger generation if mostly all the people opt for I.T field. There will be a very great competition in future .Only very efficient people in I.T industry may win if everyone opts for I.T field. As they get huge salaries in I.T industry immediately after they finish their education people opt for that field mostly.thanks for sharing.happy mylotting.

I think the future of an IT is very bright. I am a medical student yet I have interest in all these web skills, and so I work freelance and working freelance has made a way for me to earn a lot. If I was an IT student I would have at this point made a lot of more cash! Doctors earn too, but they have to put in a lot of efforts and time!

Hi Tushavi! the future of IT is the future of the human race. Computers are the best tool man ever invented and have aided in the development of Genetics, Robitics and Nanotechnology. Learn what you can, when you can, about as much as humanly possible. Large amounts of money are earnt in the IT field. If you want to do it, dont listen to what others say.

I think IT is always going to be in the fashion. With the growing demand of technology and the dependence of people on technology has enabled IT people to relax. I think they have a nice future ahead and no need to have problem redarding their careers. They can easily survive with their current education.

If no money in IT how come Bill gates is so rich??? You see how far IT has come say in 15 years? If some one said youd be able to carry a computer with you in the middle of a field and be able to talk and send photos, info to someone on the other side of the world they would have probably laugh. I think computers will eventually be voice activated. Am a bit disappointed that space travel asnt progressed as fast as IT. Robots will also be a thing for the future.

The person who says IT has NO FUTURE is stupid and an idiot. The world of Information Technology is vast and opportunities are always arising. The world is constantly evolving and later time, the world need no other that IT oriented people. Those who says IT has NO FUTURE knows nothing about IT. And probably if they took up IT, they're just a bunch of IT craps scattered everywhere. I am currently an IT programmer, with my current job I still think of jumping from one job to the other, depending on the companies offer. There are lots of opportunities out there for those who are fully equip in IT knowledge, but for those who don't have, sorry to tell you your IT future is ZERO. IT needs devotion and its not your ordinary course anyone can take. Pursue your diploma degree, ASP.Net is a trend nowadays. In the office, I used three languages in website developing. ASP.Net, PHP and Ruby are my major platforms, depending on clients request. If you really want the world of IT with an Engineering degree, take Software Engineering course.

The future of IT is great at the moment. However, for those of us just having graduated, it can be difficult because of the economy we are now facing. What companies are looking for is someone with real life experience as well as certifications and language skills. If you go for the SQL, ASP.NET, and the C# you should do just fine. During my current job searches I have found that most companies are looking for someone with programming skills in SQL, VB, C# and a few other languages. They want someone who knows their way around ASP.NET, PHP, possibly even Oracle. If you go into the IT profession, definitely brush up on VB, C#, SQL, Oracle, and as many other languages as you possibly can, but always have a positive outlook. You are definitely going to have a bright future in IT if you go after what you want. There are plenty of openings in most companies for people in the IT field, and they do not make small salaries either. You may start out about 40,000 a year, but you will make more as you progress. However, you might also want to look into some internships in the IT profession while you are going to school so that you can gain some experience, this will result in less of a chance of not getting hired after you graduate. Get the experience during school and learn as many languages as you can and you will be very successful in the IT field.

As a computer science student, i'm also scared that i might not get a job. So I asked the i.t. professionals around here, and they assured me that's there are jobs in i.t. and i do hope that it's true. ASP.NET and MYSQL are nice topics to study. There is a lot of future in I.T. It never changes. It's ever evolving.
