Am I the only one that didn't think Isis was pretty?

Honestly I didn't know there was gonna be a guy on this show. I'm watching the first episode and this Isis chick comes out and the first thing I think is "eh, she's not very pretty at all".
Then, I watched the show later again with a friend without telling her about Isis, and at the same exact point, when they first showed a pic of Isis, she said "that girl's kind of ugly!"
So both of us when we said that did not know she was a guy. I really think that Tyra took Isis on the show for the drama and the viewers and I don't think Tyra expected to crown her top model. Anyway, as the season went on, I got more and more annoyed with her b/c for someone who is trying to fit in she kept making a big deal about what's going on down there! I mean, if you want to be a top model, you have to deal with what you got. Tonight I got sick of hearing about her tape and her 3 pairs of underwear and her problems.
I for one was very glad to see Isis go tonight. Maybe she should try again after the surgery.

You are definitely not the only one! My mom and I didn't think Isis was pretty either. There were a few times when she looked okay but that's the magic of makeup and photoshop. And she's not the only one because I feel the same way about some of the others. I often wonder what is going on in Tyra's head.
I had heard about Isis before the show started but didn't know who it was. I pulled up the website and looked at their pictures to see if I could figure out who it was but I couldn't. I thought several of them could be the one they were talking about.

i agree, the makeup helped some, and depending on the way she posed, however overall I thought UGLY every time I saw himher. Funny that you thought several could pass for Males.
Every season there are people I think are unattractive, but I think Tyra is always out to prove the different types of beauty out there. MOST of the time, I do think the winner or the ones near the end or attractive. But even then sometimes I don't. Like that one latina girl Josylen? whatever her name was, I didn't think she was that attractive and besides the fact that whenever they showed her commercials I couldn't understand her! Anyway, the point is... I get your point :)

Yeah you know the only reason jaslene won is b/c she was different and spoke spanish. Tyra LOVED that! So she has to pick someone different every year, even if they aren't the best.
I've heard some say they don't like Whitney's commercials but I do. I think she seems like a very nice girl who is enjoying her new life as a cover girl :)

I totally agree! I didn't like Jaslene the first season she tried out. In fact, I thought she looked like a man. I was totally surprised when she made it the next season and then went on to win. Her commercials were painful to watch!
I like the commercials this year because they're not really promoting anything. Sure, it's for Cover Girl but it's not like, "When I'm on the runway, I have my lipstick by Cover Girl." It's actually about Whitney and her new life with a flash of the products. Now that is the life of a Cover Girl.

I don't think she was pretty enough to be a model. As one person said, she had a droopy eye. She occasionally took a decent picture, but she just didn't have what it takes and I actually wanted to like her just because she was different. That said, the ugliest girl in the competition was Marjorie. Isis was DEFINITELY more attractive and probably more feminine than her.
Seriously, if they wanted a tranny that could win, I've seen better. Just look at someone like Patricia Araujo who is clearly better looking and more passable.

Yeah I think Tyra put her on their just because she was different and I don't believe Tyra thought she was pretty enough to win. Just wait til next season when all the trans-gender contestants show up for auditions! You know they will!!
Marjorie was pretty unattractive. I was amazed that Tyra actually LIKED when she posed hunchback. That doesn't seem like a feature you'd want in a model.

I agree completely. I thought she was not very pretty even before knowing about her "condition". I even posted on the CW boards that I thought she looked like a younger version of the singer Prince. I am sure I saw a shadow on her face during the Balloon shoot that none of the other girls had. Her makeover shot had her looking like a 12 year old boy. I think having that droopy eye didn't help at all,either. Still, I wish her the best but I was glad to see her go,too.

Yeah and the fact that they call it a "condition" bugs me too! It's not like she has a disease!!
OMG, she does look like Prince now that you say that!!! That's hilarious.
I wish her the best in another industry, not in Cover Girl modelling. I like Cover Girls to be someone that I think young girls can look up to and respect. I really don't know how a guy that became a girl can influence girls in a positive way - although she may influence boys who are curious about doing the same!

ok, I totally agree with you. Actually there is usually a few I don't think are pretty in Top Model but then they will take some of the best pictures. For me, Isis was neither pretty nor took good pictures. AS for the trans gender thing, I totally think that Isis was brought in for drama only. I actually wondered about what if Cover Girl wasn't ready for a trans gender person, and didn't want to put that image across. I mean Top Model may be ready for a trans gender but what of the people behind these prizes, they have a company to run too and a certain image they may want to put out and may not want to side with that issue, it's kind of controversial, so no I didn't think Isis would be winning but was brought on to try to bring awareness about trans genders and for drama.

I do think Isis looked decent in the background last season, but that's b/c she just had tons of makeup on and just posed simply. Now she is trying to be in front and it doesn't work at all for me.
I'm glad to think someone else agrees with me! I was starting to feel like I was being a bad person by not liking her. I agree also that there are a few others I don't think are pretty either, but my point was that if this guy/girl isn't pretty then what reason do they really have for putting her on the show?
I believe if Tyra was being honest in the very beginning she wouldn't have choosen Isis as a finalist b/c she never really seemed to fit the ideal "cover girl" type.

This cycle has only just aired on UK TV. We are about three weeks into the show. So aprt from anything you have just spoiled the fact that Isis doesn't win. Not that I wanted her to.
One of the many things I notice about the show is that being pretty really isn't an issue - nor is looking like a model.
Many of the contestants are unconventionally pretty - in real life you wouldn't give them a second look. The show is really just a reality show...amoney making machine that's all. Who cares?
I still love it though
