So I was thinking about this the other day...I hear all the time ppl saying that those who dont believe, sinners etc etc blah blah blah will suffer in Hell when that time comes....BUT why would they suffer? Lets face it, Satan is getting all these souls wouldnt he want them to be happy so to speak so he can keep them, work with them to take over the universe or whatever...Kind of as a means to flip god off so to speak...

I know that it is popular at this time in history to be an unbeliever, Ravenladyj, but for those of us who are believers Heaven and Hell exist. While it is true that satan is the leader of this world at present it will not be that way forever. If satan is truly the master of those you refer to it would stand to reason that he might not be a kind and gentle master simply by virtue of his nature -evil.

Well you do raise a point. Satan is getting all of these people's souls so you would think that he would use that for his advantage. But, the souls that are in hell are suffering in eternal flames and is serving satan out of fear.

Satan is perverse and sneaky. He WANTS you to think that he wants you to be happy. But, he enjoys inflictng pain and misery. That is where he gets his kicks.Anyhow, once he gets a soul he keeps it, so there is no need for pleasing the person to keep him. Besides, just because you are a sinner does not mean you (Meaning everybody, not just you) have to go to hell. God wants everyone to be able to join him in heaven, so he gives us every chance in the world. After all, didn't he die to pay for our sins? All we have to do is accept that sacrifice and we are His. Forever!

"We must pray for those who do not know the Lord. They are hurting in the worst way. " and we must pray for those who think there is a LORD.They are hurting themselves in the best way.

I have to say that you have a very interestng aspect ... LOL!! I have never thought of it that way but now that you speak of it I guess that would work better to his favor. Also I don' think to many people will be going to hell. Becuase even a murderer can get into heaven as long as he repents his sin and is serious about it.

Becuase even a murderer can get into heaven as long as he repents his sin and is serious about it OH my dont even get me started on that topic Cause truth be told that sort of thing just trips me out and makes my skin crawl....I'm not a believer as you know but the simple thought that the most HEINOUS of criminals can get a gold star if they end up being remorseful etc just makes me sick to my stomach

I'm thankful that God is not willing that any should perish and that even the hardest heart, if it repents and turns to God, can find forgiveness. A merciful God gives even the worst of us hope.

Interesting take. According to the mythology though, the very reason for Satan's rebellion is that he could not abide the creation of something that was placed higher in God's favor than the angels. Lucifer (Satan) refused to kneel down to the mortal's God had created. For that he, and a third of the Heavenly host who sided with Lucifer, was cast out of Heaven and into the pit. Lucifer likes us, not at all. He rejoices in being able to torture the souls which come to his realm. That's one take. Another is this; making Hell a place to be feared is Lucifer's job. And he's no slacker. And then we can go onto an allegorical exploration. Hell, and the suffering commensurate with it, are the inevitable outcome when the portion of our mind-body existence which is self-centered and considers itself to be the ultimate authority of what is right refuses to defer to (kneel before) that portion of us in tune with the divine impulse; a life lived in selfless service, compassion, gratitude and quietus.

heaven and hell don't belong to god or satan. they belong to us, human, and their existence also depend on our preference. we created our own heaven or hell. they are not some places in the future, but a state in the present. our mind create heaven or hell. in this regard, i think both the 'sinners' and the people who judge them as sinners are creating hell in their mind; they choose to be in hell. then they create satan and the suffering etc.

have you read the poem "Abu ben Adam? if not I have given it below Abou Ben Adhem (May his tribe increase) Awoke one night from a deep dream of peace And saw, within the moonlight in his room Making it rich, and like a lily in bloom An Angel writing in a book of gold; Exceeding peace had made Ben Adhem bold, And to the Presence in the room he said, "What writest thou?" The Vision raised its head, And with a look made of all sweet accord Answered, "The names of those who love the Lord." "And is mine one?" said Abou. "Nay, not so." Replied the Angel. Abou spoke more low, But cheerily still; and said, "I pray thee then write me as one that loves his fellow men." The Angel wrote, and vanished. The next night It came again with a great awakening light, And showed the names whom love of God had blessed, And, lo! Ben Adhem's name led all the rest! James Henry Leigh Hunt Now you can judge who will go to hell!

The problem is that Satan is currently deceiving people. Many, sad to say, don't believe in Christ and those that don't will see the light when the time comes. It is easy right now to go out partying, drinking, sleeping around, and living against will - especially if you don't believe. So if you don't believe, you don't or can't see how it "You will suffer" makes sense....

It is easy right now to go out partying, drinking, sleeping around, and living against will - especially if you don't believe. What does partying, drinking, promiscuity etc have to do with it though...I mean there are TONS of us, including myself, who DON'T drink, party, sleep around etc etc..in fact we are pretty damn good ppl who live right and mindfully ya know...yet because we dont believe in god we're goin to go to hell...SOOOO logic to me says that Satan would LOVE to get his hands on those types AND keep them VERY HAPPY ya know..Like I said to Zuk, its the ultimate "stick it to the man" game plan if you really think about it...See what I'm saying Oh and HI THERE MRS! HOWS MARRIED LIFE TREATING YA

Ok I'm back... Satan plans is to deceive as many people as he possibly can before Christ returns. A lot of good movies to watch are the Left Behind Series and a lot of True Cloud (I think that's the name) series like Rapture, Tribulation, Judgement Day... Because people don't believe in Christ or Satan, Satan has those souls. When it comes to Christianity either you believe or you don't and if you (people) claim they don't believe in God or satan (heaven or hell) it's like automatically believing in hell/satan. When it comes to salvation it's clear cut - either you believe in God and you repent or you're going to hell. AGAIN - this is HOW I INTERPRET it. I may be wrong or I may not be wrong...but I'll keep betting on the side of not being wrong and I will continue with my beliefs and keep having faith. People have a choice - and that's the thing, although we may feel people are choosing the wrong path, it is a choice and it is a choice we outta respect. **Married life is great! Things are well. Too bad we didn't get a chance to hook up this summer. Maybe sometime over the fall because the white stuff starts to come down.

Heaven and hell can be experienced in this world itself by our deeds. Satan is not anywhere out side. He is within us and makes us do evil and face the consequences ourself. So nothing blaming satan or blame anybody for our evil doings. We are whole responsible for what we do. So do things that are correct to your inner heart. which is the conscious and which tells us do the right thing, but we go against this because of our own will even after knowing that it is wrong. So we suffer hell at the present time and we are preparing to suffer even more.

You are afraid it does exist. It doesn't matter whether you believe it or not. It doesn't change that fact that God is very real and so is His Word. It speaks of both heaven and hell being very real places. You not believing that will not change the fact that they do exist. God bless.

I don't personally believe in Heaven, Hell, Satan or God just so you know Jerry..it was just a thought that popped into my mind. That said though, He is within us and makes us do evil I also don't believe in evil or "sins" thanks for responding

Hi Raven, hell is just a Jewish garbage dump blow out of proportions by the church fathers to terrify more people into becoming Christian. I was under the impression that nobody took heaven and hell seriously anymore, what with the world developing so fast in science and technology. I was really shocked to learn from Mylot that so many people actually believe that there is a hell, where you will be roasted slowly. Coming from India, where everything is always so hot, I don't find the concept of extreme heat terrifying. I detest cold. Now, if there is a cold hell, that would have really been a cause of concern for me. But there isn't a cold hell, is there? Cheers and happy mylotting PS: Could you accept my friend request?

I don't believe in all that stuff. As far as I am concerned there may be an afterlife, and the only way we are going to find out what waits for us on the other side, will be to DIE! I think that hell is just one of those things religious fanatics have invented in order to scare the crap out of people amd make them tow a certain line.

Everyone believe differently and I will respect that. I do believe that there is a heaven and a hell and in hell I believe, that there would be torment going on down there or wherever it is. But you have a great point of why not satan make it fun in hell just to get more followers. I on the other hand do not plan on going to hell, if there is one, instead I hope to spend eternity in heaven.

Heaven, depends on the particular teachings. Olam Haba, "The World to Come," is described differently in different contexts. In Kabbalah, heaven would be described as one's spiritual energy rejoining to the source of it.

Your theory makes a lot of sense. My question was always...why would they care? If they are not believers, isn't telling them they are going to Hell kind of like telling someone they're going to Fairyland? They don't believe Hell even exists so they aren't going to be all too concerned about the pretend suffering they'll have to endure.

Hi Ravenladyj, I see that I have to take you to task again, you know you shouldn't be upsetting those poor fundamentalist Christians by being logical! Of course your theory makes sense but in the end God will, so they tell us, cast Satan too, along with all his accomplices, into eternal torment. Too bad your theory (unlike their's), has no REAL proof. Blessings.

Who can say anymore these days where our souls will go. There is to much going on in the world and to many people for God or the Devil to decide where we all belong, except the really bad people. God and Satan is like Politics, you get to choose which corner you want to be in, sometimes though we don't always have a choice. Life justs deals us the life we are gonna live. And I believe we all have a destiny in life, even if it is not what we want.
