do you rate those people negative who dont think like you???

hi ramangill i lost my star 10 at religion too .. on a heated argument ... but now, i see that the person has already been removed from "my lot" .. guess he manage to reduce my star but someone greater than him removed him totally .. People who do not understand about discussion and debates at times, they take issues too personaly and seriously because they are still "children" lets all ignore this people and enjoy our visits here happier cheers

The scary truth is that many people in general are not tolerant of other people. hence, not open minded at all when it comes to other human beings who are different and who believe in different things. I've always heard that it's never good to talk about religion with others because it usually upsets some people who don't share the same belief's as you. I personally go threw this with my own family because I believe differently then almost all of my family members. To me if a person is truly spiritual (regardless of which religion they follow) they would be more understanding and tolerant of other people's belief's instead of coming down on them and belittling them with such unnecessary negativity.Walk in love, not hate.

hello ramangill, i think that there is no point in rating people negative and also in addition to that those people who do that it is by discussions and arguments that a post gets enriched. you may think that someone is not having similarity of thoughts and that is why they are responding to you and at the same time you forget about the fact that there are a lot many people who do not even bother to respond to you. happy postings.

I received a lot of responses opposite to what I believed in a particular post but I consider it as a lesson for me and it helps me think outside the box and when I received rude comment which I had experienced before, I didn't rate it but give comment to explain my side, good thing is that, he was not in my friend's list! ANyway, continue to rate everyone in your post and I am sure you will get it back, your 78 or something! Anyway, we can't deny there are really people who rate negative here, it's like in a class..LOL![/i]

I don't think anyone thinks alike, Everyone has their own opinions and views and they shouldn't be penalized because they offer their differing views. With that being said I also think that everyone should respect others vieewpoints and not put them down for their differing views. I look at other peoples views and opinions and all I think is, either there is something of worth in what they say or there isn't. Either way it is their view. I don't have to agree with it or even like it, but that does not really give me any reason to judge them negatively.

NO i dont rate someone negative just because his or her thinking does not match mine. When i start a discussion i know that there would be both positive and negative responses to it. Infact this helps me to learn more and take appropriate decisons.

No I don't rate people negatively if they don't agree with my line of reasoning. I find that as stupid and childish thing to do. This is a forum to exchange ideas and views for not lip service.

I do not rate anyone negative, irrespective of the fact, whether he agrees with my opinion or not. I try not to start any controversial discusssion. I also do not feel like participating in a discussion, where my thoughts could be taken otherwise. You have rightly pointed out 'religion' is a controversial subject and here people may rate you negatively, if you do not follow their line of thoughts. I avoid discussions on 'religion'.

Sorry that this happened to you, ramangill, but I have never given anyone a negative rating because they disagree with my views. If that were the case I probably would have given every member here a negative rating at some point.Actually, I've only used that rating about 3 times during my lengthy stay here. Unless the responder is outright offensive I just don't rate if I feel like it.

Hi, ramangill.. ^^v I don't or won't give people negative rating just because they don't think like me. In the first place, I'm here in myLot to get various ideas, opinion, perspective about a certain topic. People have different opinion, and that's what make each of us unique and wonderful. It depends on the person how he/she will take it. Unfortunately, there are people who are so immature and narrow-minded who cannot take 'constructive' criticisms at times. Maybe giving a negative rating is their way of 'vengeance'.. But come to think of it, I haven't rated anybody negatively yet. I may start rating negative now, but only to those nonsense response like, "yeah, I agree with you".. which they call One Liner. Those people deserve that kind of rating. Well, that's just me. ^^v

I rate people base the way they respond and not base on what i feel about them. For as long as they wont say anything offending and wont insult me nor mocked me then there is no reason why i should give them a negative rating.

lol you are completely right. I left a comment in a religion topic a few days ago and my rating went down from an 89 to an 86. I think it's pretty ignorant for people to rate that way just because someone else does not have their same views. This is a forum and people should be here to have open discussions but some people don't want that. Some are here just to bash and ostracize the views of others. I remember telling myself that I wouldn't join any religion discussions but sometimes when I see how atrocious and mean the discussions are I try to comment to dispel some of the ignorance but I've realized that if some people are set on starting discussions that are mean or inaccurate then commenting isn't going to change their minds or make them see the light.

It is a little unfair to be marked negetive if one does not agree to the way the other thinks. I mean it is a free world and each one has a right to think the way they want. I feel that when it comes to religion people just get so intolerant if others think differently from their ideas of the right way. No but I personally never mark a person negetive whether or not his ideas agree with mine. The only time I will mark the person negetive is when the responder becomes uncouth or apervert.

Well, personally that is why there are times I think the Ratings thing is not the best thing in here to have. I feel that this should be a discussion forum, and people should be allowed to come in here and express their thoughts and feelings on something without everyone taking offense to it as well. I know I may not always agree with someone in here, but unless something they have posted in here is found to be totally offensive to how I am, I could never rate someone negative. The only time I rate negative usually if something is totally offensive, or if I feel it is something against the TOS as well. There are times I have not rated someone as well if I just am not sure how to rate it any as well. Don't let it get to you. Just try and find things you know you are interested in, and good things will happen. We all will have our issues in here, you just need to not let them bother you so much.

I have a rule here. If a person won't insults me, then I will still rate his post positive. I will never rate anybody's posts negative. If this post is very offensive, then I will leave it alone and won't rate it at all. I love China

I don't, but I've had it happen to me. I not going to worry about it much, I stand by the post, and would post the same again. It is a shame some people are so insecure in there beliefs (religious, political or any other) that they feel the need to rate down rather than attempt to discuss.

sorry to hear about that. i think i also experience almost the same. i started a discussion about atheism, and my ranking under religion interest is decrease in days from 64 to 138 (but now it's slowly increasing again). but my star is not affected significantly. i myself don't usually rate negative who don't agree with me. i even like the posts who expressing different opinions and views from mine. it is the differences what make the discussion goes on. as far as i remember, i never give a negative rating. i always give rate + if i like the post, otherwise i will leave it unrated.

I don't think so!. I always give positive or negative rating on performance. sometimes, if I saw logicless false discussion, I give negative rating. Sometimes I give positive rating if the discussion gone against my thinking but if that carry logic. Happy day!

i really dont know how many people do this but i have always given a positive rating and if i dont like any discussion i just leave it and i dont give any rating and i dont want to give any negative rating to anyone. but it is sad that it had happened to you but do you think it really happens or it is some other reason?
