How often do you go for a dental check up?

My dentist advice me to go for a regular check up every six months. However I always manage to skip one appointment during the year because I am always busy. Usually I go once a year during my summer holidays. How often do you go for a dental check up?

I never go to the dentist until I have a problem. I hadn't been to a dentist for almost twenty years and I had to go last Tuesday because I had been suffering with a toothache for a few weeks. I held out as long as I could hoping the toothache mught just go away. Well it went away last Tuesday and the tooth went with it. I had to have one of my wisdom teeth extracted and even though I got three injections, it still hurt. He scaled my teeth and told me they were in very good condition so now I will probably never go to a dentist again.

Gee, you are putting me to shame! I have not gone to a dentist since a very long time - like maybe nearly 5 years? Otherwise, I'm taking good care of my dental hygiene, about the brushing and mouth-rinsing part. I go to a dentist only when I've a clue I've some problem that calls for a dental check-up.

I procrastinate badly about the dentist, and although they send me a reminder every six months, I wait until something aches. Then I go, and have to have several appointments to fix things. It's not a fun thing to do, but you must admit, when the dentist manages to put you out of your misery and get rid of a toothache it's a pretty good feeling!

Hi Ronaldinu, I'm supposed to go in every year for check up and cleaning; but I really hate turning up. I fear the dentist more than the doctor. So I'd keep postponing until something happens like toothache!

Depending on if I have got a sympathetic, patience and caring dentist with a good bedside manner LOL! Which are damn hard to find, once I have found one they either retire or I move! I should go every 6 months and I used to like clockwise, now I've moved again I was due one in August so it's only a month longer but I am dreading having to find a new one again! Doesn't help that I hate the dentist like most people but I think the dentist himself or herself makes all the difference as to whether you go regularly or not!

We try for once a year. And it is that itme again. The problem is having the time to get the whole family in at once. My hubby never seems to have the time. Dental offices have a rigid schedule.

There was a time when I tried to stretch out the time between cleanings, too. Then, trouble arose and the dentist started talking about oral surgery. I requested that he let me try more frequent flossing for a while. He agreed, but I still had to see him every three months for about a year. My diligence seemed to work. I didn't have to have the surgery, and I'm back on the biyearly schedule for cleanings and yearly visits with the dentist. I don't miss an appointment unless I'm sick or out of town. In that case, it's only postponed, not canceled.

Since most American dental insurance policies will pay for a visit every 6 months, that's how often I go. Preventative medicine is what that is called.

I go once a year, also during the summer. I hate it every time. I don't like going!

I go three times a year. I was diagnosed as having severe periodontal disease so I have to have frequent cleanings and check-ups if I want to keep my teeth. I've already had one fall out. Not to scare you, but it convinced me that regular checkups are important.

I know this is not good. However, I am really scared to see the dentist. Usually I will go to have a dental check up when I feel something wrong with my teeth. I love China

I rarely go for dental checkup until recently. Now it is every six months. Prevention is very important. I hate losing my teeth. As we grow older our teeth also aged. A good healthy diet is also very important for our teeth.
