My Akita Shilo is a thief. She steals stuff from us all the time. We brought our fall decorations out and she took off with my little scarecrow. It is not like she doesn't have toys of her own she has tons of them. She has been trying to steal the teddy bear parts for two days now. She took off with Liam's leg just a few minutes ago (teddy bear in the making). I got it back but she is being so bad today! She is in the dog house lol. Does your pooch or kitty behave badly?

my do thinks that if he can reach it, it belongs to him... laundry on the floor? it's bauzer's mom is out of bed - it's bauzer's i'm very thankful that he doesn't get in the garbage or chew shoes - so most of what he does is pretty funny... sorry about liam - i hope he manages to get around ok with that wound...

Fortunatly I got Liam's leg away from her before she mauled it. Oh if anything falls on the floor it is Shilo's so we got to grab it quick or end up chasing her down. It is funny if not frustrating.

How old is she? If she's a puppy then she's just curious and can be trained out of it. Sometimes, it's honestly better to just let them have their way with some things, if she becomes obsessed with her new toy leg and will only play with that then you may be able to start a new one with out worrying about Shilo lurking in the shadows, waiting for the time to pounce. My dog Cali does things like that all the time, if she wants it she takes it, shes about 2, but she is slowly growing out of it. Buster used to do it all the time until we got him a ball, then it was the only thing he ever wanted to be around. I actually had a rabbit that did things like that, I bought her toys but she only wanted to play with my stuff. Crazy little girl, I miss her so, she ran away:( Anyway, good luck with your christmas decorations this year, you'll need it:)

She's a 90 pound eight month old. Not giving her Liam's leg the fur is expensive and so is the joint in it lol. She has a whole basket of toys that are hers she can play with those. We are not putting up a tree this year because of Shilo. We will have a small tree on the table and decorate the higher places. All presents and fake presents (empty boxes wrapped up) will have to be kept on the table out of her reach (if on her back legs she stands nearly 5 foot tall). She is just a mess but we love her.

My cat does this kind of thing all the time. When he wants something, he just steals it. Once I brought some chicken home to eat, and as soon as I opened the box, he took off with a piece. He did that before I could stop him, and I had to chase him all over the apartment to get it back!!

Does Shilo have a stash somewhere that she wants to add to? Could be she likes the items she is stealing and wants to add them to her stash of favorites. Some dogs will do that and just lay on them whenever they feel insecure or afraid. These treasures never get chewed on, thou. Just used to lie on.
