I take Echanachia for a week then I am off it for a week. I haven't had a cold in over a year. I beleive that it works to help your immune system fight off colds and flu. My co-worker says it is all in my head and it doesn't work. This is coming from a guy that gets a cold every month or two. So what do you think of Echanachia? A placebo or does it really work?

I think it does.. after all most medicines come from plants! Why not preventatives too? What's more medicinally helpful than a preventative? (There's purpose in the herbs!)

A lot of scientific studies have been done that say echinacea has no effect. So maybe you are less succeptible for other reasons and you are just attributing your resistance to echinacea. Or maybe the studies missed something. Who knows?
I don't entirely dismiss home remedies - most of them come from years of observation so there is often something to them.
Me, I've found the best thing I can do to prevent colds is to paint my nails with bitter-tasting stuff. If I don't bite my nails, I don't get sick!

I did not know about this untill I read your discussion and all the responses. Its good to know about so many things, one is not aware of . I would really like to try this, since its a plant product. By the way garlic is very good during cold. It helps increase the immunity of the body. So eating one clove of raw garlic everyday will keep you healthy. I know chewing raw garlic is ot possible. So sometimes I make small piecec of it and mix it with my food and eat.
