Family members who go missing.....

An Australian girl backpacking has gone missing in Croatia! How do people especially family members cope with their children just vanishing and some never to be found? These cases are very sad and something I hope I never have to experience! The worry they must experience and for some a closure is not always the case! I feel for these families and whatever the outcome, it would destroy their own lives!

Hi suehan, have not been too bad, just dealings of every day life so to speak! And boy sometimes........This disappearance does not look very good at all and stories like this touch my heart as it would most parents. I would like to see a nice ending come of this though!

This must be one of the most distressing and heartbreaking things to happen - and especially when it happens in another part of the world. You wouldn't know whether to dash over there - or wait a bit longer in case the person tried to contact you. I often think of the family of Peter Falconio, who was from England and whose body has never been found after he and his girlfriend were ambushed in the Australian outback. He's presumed murdered - but without being able to lay him to rest in his home town, his family must exist from day to day in indescribable grief.

The case you have mentioned is another mystery guybrush and another one that may never be really put to rest until there is closure! And of course that closure means finding his body! The desperation these families must feel would be beyond anything we could imagine!

Oh I know what you mean, it must be horrendous, you would be thinking about it all the time, and being so far away you would feel helpless thinking of all the possibilities, I think it would drive you crazy...i just hope they find her ok...

I hope they find her to lilaclady as this would be a person's worst nightmare I would imagine and a lot of times it is the "not knowing" which would drive you crazy even more!

It is truly a terrible thing. My heart felt condolences go out to all who have lost children. I haven't heard of the girl you are speaking of here however it happens and I don't know why. There have been many children abducted right from under the noses of their parents and never to be found again or worse! There are times when I think about these things. I have a young son myself. I don't even want to imagine the feeling of him going lost.

In these times we are aware of such goings on and can try to protect our children as best we can! In cases like this when children want to see the sites of the world, and head off on this great adventure, one would hope they would be safe but this is not always the case. My son recently had his first trip overseas and although he is 27 years old I still worried for him and was very glad to see him arrive home safely. We cannot wrap them in cotton wool of course, but we do want them to be safe!

I get what you are saying. No matter how old your children get we are still going to worry. That is just being a mother. They will always be our babies.
