Has your child ever brought home a stray animal?

If your child brought home a stray animal, would you allow them to keep it as a pet? I've been an animal lover since I was very young. I would bring home every lost or stray pet I came across. My mother would allow me to have pets, but only bought from a store. The ones I found I would have to return to the outside or report them as lost. I would be very upset and cry. Now I understand why I couldnt keep them. I know my daughter will be doing that when she gets older as well! I know alot of children that bring home strays.Does your child? Do you allow her to keep any?

Well, I'm expecting with my 1st, so I won't have to deal with that for a while. But, if she's anything like me, I imagine she will. Where we used to live, I would see stray cats and dogs all the time. I would always ask my husband if we could take them home until we could find the owner. I just feel so bad for the animals. If my dog became lost, I would like someone to care for him until I located him.

No, they have not yet.. But it is coming just as soon as they get older.. I am expecting this to happen, in a couple of more years.

I would let them keep them to a certain degree...but I'd also encourage them to help find them good homes. I think it's great for a child to have a pet to learn responsibility but they have to understand the committment that goes with them. I don't know if I should be posting here, but, thought I should share something. I was a kid someday and I brought home a sick and cute puppy back home from school. Of course it was from the roadside. My mother didn't allow it to enter our house and I, with some of my friends, arranged a new home built entirely by us using bricks and leaves and a piece of used torn umbrella exclusively for him. We named him, fed him and played with him for a week and then out of nowhere he was just gone. It doesn't matter if your moms allow the animals to your home or not, the fact is they don't care to live in a home and they'll leave you, their greatest lover(yes, I thought I was at that time) without feeling a bit offensive. :-(
