No, I don't have family in Iraq but I agree that my heart goes out to them. I do have a friend over there that I used to work with. I used to occasionally get an email from him updating what he was doing and approximately where he was and how uncomfortable it was temperature wise. I haven't heard from him in months now and I worry if he is still alive. Since I no longer live in the USA it isn't as easy for me to find out about him unless he decides to email again. I hope he didn't have to pay the ultimate sacrifice. He was an intelligent, good looking, personable young man with his whole life ahead of him.

I too am fortunate not to have anyone in Iraq, but my wife's nephew was supposed to go before he required surgery on his foot. There are a few families at our church who have loved ones in Iraq, so we pray that these courageous men come home healthy and soon. Extending their stay by another 3 months is devastating news to those with young kids who really need to have their parent back home soon.

I don't have any family in Iraq and I feel for the people that worry daily about their loved ones. You just don't know how bad I wish we had never gone into Iraq. We had them contained with the "no fly zone". There was no need to send troops into Bagdad. This has to be the worst planned military misadventure in American history. Sorry for getting off track from your original question, but this was so avoidable. Lloyd
