Do you get annoyed by co-workers who talk too loud?

Does your co-worker talk too loud that sometimes you can't get to work? Do you hear each and every word your co-worker says that even though you are not close you know already what's with his/her life? What do you do when your co worker talks too loud?

Yup, I've got a colleague whose voice goes up in pitch in accordance to her volume. It irritates me like mad, especially when I'm working on a proposal or business plan. There was once, when I was talking to a client on the phone, and she was gabbling away in the background. My client told me 'Couldn't you ask that woman to stop talking or go elsewhere? I can hear her louder than you.' I continued the conversation in another room with my client. Later when my noisy colleague asked me why I left the room, I told her - she was offended and told me that my client was rude! There you are, some people don't even know that they are nuisances, disturbing and downright irritating! Short of telling that to her face, you just can't get the message into her!

I have about 6 of them near me that talk loudly about everything. I'll hear them talk to their husbands on the phone, comment to each other about the shows they watch, etc. I think I know more about their lives than I do my own. I usually put on my headphones and listen to music to avoid hearing too much.

I work at home so fortunately I dont have that problem. I like to work around other people sometimes but for now this is what works for me. I ma go back into traditional job some day but I dont have plans to do so right now. I am happy but I could use more money.

yes i do that's why i keep my headphones handy. even if i don't listen to music while working, i just keep my headphones on to tune out of all the noise in the office. some of my office mates have no protocol at all that they talk so loud that it bothers others. of course it is different when the boss is around. everyone is as meek as a lamb but when the boss isn't around yet, you'd think you're in a college dorm and not in an office. lol! of course, i'm no saint so sometimes, i talk loudly as well and at times i've been rowdy but i've always made sure that when i do it's either i've finished my tasks for the day, i'm not bothering anyone, or the boss won't be around. lol!

Yes, it can be annoying when some people speak too loud in the office and you're concentrating or in the middle of something or even on the phone to the client Some people just want to be heard and seen...even when they're having a moan! Whoever thought of open plan offices..
