i have seen rated k last night and it features a couple living in a small island about 6 hectares..and they are the only occupant, no neighbors, no electricity, no source of water, their only source of entertainment is a small battery operated radio, swimming in the beach, walking, catching fish and talking to themselves...they do not have children yet and they have been living in that small island for 4 years already...they said they have been offered twice already to sell the island for PHP 15 million but they refused..they described their life as peaceful, harmoneous and far from temptations and do not have plans to leave the isalnd paradise. I live in a city and have been here all my life...i kinda wanted the kind of life that they have...but .but but...i need to have internet connection..that is all..i can live in an island with my kids and husband and eat just fish and veggies...what about you..do you think you can survive or just want to crave the city life?

Yes. Sometimes, i hope i am living in a small island with all my family members and friends but no other else. If it is true, i will be very happy because i won't be afraid of losing work and gaining less money. having food to eat and people to talk is enough and makes me happy and sleep soundly.

Hello there andak2007 I would love to think I could live on this island peacefully with my children it would be great but in all honesty and in reality I really don't think I could. I have been exposed to way too many things!

I live in a small island. We are surrounded by beautiful sea, lovely sandy beaches. The unfortunate thing is that Malta is so densely populated. I would find it hard to live without modern amenities such as internet connection. However I do think that I would such situation as challenging and fun.

When i was young... i used to imagine myself living in an island... alone with only cute animals and my plants to accompany me... those were my day dreaming days... but now... i think i can still live in a small island... as long as i have a working cell phone and internet connection... even without the malls and cars and other stuff that we are use to in the city... as long as i have my internet... i think i will be fine...

i can see myself living on a small island. I see what woman would want to also if not then oh well but being away from everything would be the best for me.

I could never live on an island and just eat those types of things either. I would not want to survive like that. I have to have my internet also. I make my daily earnings on here to help my family and I have got to have it.

If I was very rich I would choose to buy my own tropical island, perhaps in Belize. I really loved visiting it and they speak English there. It is near to Spanish speaking countries that I am fond of like Guatemala. I think I would buy a boat so that I could pop over to Belize City twice a week. Ten years ago I didn't use the Internet but these days it is a very big part of my life. When I was in Australia in Queensland I went to Stone Island and it was very basic. It was candle power in the morning and evening. The people had bought that island and it appealed to backpackers working on the farms around Bowen on the mainland. Even more back to nature I went to Hinchinbrook Island and there I camped with the only facility being a bush toilet. I had to go to a creek to get drinking water and I had no way of washing myself. I think the people enjoy their simple lifestyle. Just imagine if they sold the island and moved to Manila how alien it would be for the them. They currently have a blissful lifestyle. I would love to have my own tropical island but I would have to have more comfort that the couple you describe, a fridge and a computer with Internet connection!

well for me i do not need to be very rich in order to want to live in an island..just a simple mother will do who can afford the basic necessities in life then im fine but i have my kids to think of..they need to go to school so eventually i will have to leave the island.

I think I cant. If I am alone I could say yes. But the family matter more than me. So my family with little kids and the dreams of kids will get spoiled if i keep them alone in an island. I believe those are old ancient days were people lived in kingdom and spoke much between themselves now the world changes so i cant

oh you beat me to it! (now you owe me more than 1 lechon!) Me, I can't live in an island without anything. Maybe if I am alone or it is just me and my hubby but we have kids now, I don't think they can easily adopt to such kind of environment (no TV, no computer, nothing) but in a way I envy that couple, they life seems so perfect and so simple, and I envy them more because the beach, the shore the sand.. oh my!

i don't think i can ever survive in a small island without source of entertainment, basic goods and commodities, shopping and electricity. you know, city life is fun and i cannot trade it with a life in a dreary place like that..

you are right city life has its perks but maybe if you find it too much then you might consider living a peaceful life outside the city...for a break maybe.

Wow i think in this day in age it would be very difficult to not have the luxuries we've been come to accustomed to. Yes especially internet! I remember as a kid they didn't have internet and i had a blast all the time playing king of the hill and playing in the park and whatnot. I think it would be very peaceful and relaxing but at the same time very stressful because what if you had to go to the hospital or couldn't catch your food for a few days.

Not only can I imagine living on a small island, but I have in fact imagined doing that many times in the past. I would love to at least give it a shot. But of course it would get rather boring and lonely if I couldn't bring at least one other person with me. I could definitely do it a lot better if I had at least had a friend to talk to. I've always wanted to try living on a small island.

I think that the first few years they were probably busy trying to build a place to live and trying to learn how to survive. After you are away from certain things for a certain amount of time you adjust to it. I think that you have to have the right mind set to live in that type of situation. I have always wanted to live near the beach but I am not sure that I could be that isolated. They are very fortunate to have what they have and fortunate for the fact that they are happy with it!

I'll check first if the island can do access to any internet service provider, then if it does. Maybe I'll go and give it a try.

If I grow on that kind of situation since childbirth, then I might accept the fact that that is only thing in life, living in peace and harmony. But since I've been living this kind of life sitting in front of the computer all day long, then maybe I can't live with that. It's a pretty scary thing. I can live in that island. But I'll return in the city in about a month's time or two.

I cant live in a small island for the rest of my life. I am use to the city life and living in a place without malls and internet would be hard. I would like to spend my vacation on an island though. It will be relaxing to smell fresh air and swim at a clean beach once in a while but to live there forever would be hard for me to do.
