My step-daughter is 12 years old and what an age it is. She is a little lippy with me and her dad but not to the point where she needs to be disiplined. She thinks she is an adult and she most diffently is not. So she thinks ahe has all this indepence when she really doesn't. I must say she is a good kid she always does well in school and knows the differnce between right and wrong. Just like to hear your opinions about 12 year olds....I have 2 otherr little girls that must go through it as well.

When my son was 12 he started to get mouthy with us too. He seemed to think he was all grown up and didn't need rules and restrictions. He is a good kid though. Now he's 14 and he knows he has rules but he likes to try to bend them. Everytime my kids start something new at a new age I just look at it as a phase and pray that it won't last long. It usually doesn't last very long anyway. Remember when your kids were small and would climb on everything or use their crayons to color walls? Just telling them 'no' and explaining why usually helps that phase pass....Sometimes onto a worse 'phase' but at least we can say raising kids is a challenge and not at all boring:)

hehe i know what you mean. My youngest is three and is "busy" most of the time. UGH I just want them to grow up but i know i will regret it when they do cause i will miss them being soooo little and cute.

My daughter is 16 years old now and she was lippy with me too. sheis getting better at watching her tongue now as she has grown older. I think kids of today have no respect to their elders and they have to be taught that it is not right. They will still mouth you but you have to stay with it.

It seems that she is elder and so because she turned herself or thought herself to be matured enough to take decision of herself and I am also a elder boy i too feel like i can make out my own things in my young ages too. So i dont think something is wrong there and you can be just be a liner to set right her when she makes wrong which will spoil her deeply
