Just a STOOPID Question

Ok, I just went into the bathroom (Thank you, rj!) and noticed that when hubby replaced the toilet paper, it was put on the holder so that the paper comes down over the roll. It annoyed me, so I took it off and put it back on so that the paper comes from under the roll. I guess I should be grateful that the family actually puts a new roll on the holder when they empty it, but I am forever going in and changing it. (Anal much, bo?) So, do you have a certain way you want the toilet paper to be loaded on the holder, or do you not care? Is there something that you do a certain way that you will change if someone else does it differently?

I'm like you. I like the toilet paper to come from under the roll, not over it. But my reason has to do with pets. For some reason, if our dogs and cats get into the bathroom, they are more apt to try to play with the toilet paper if it's over the roll. They have such fun pulling it off the roll, but I don't like having to clean it up. (No one else will!) And, heaven forbid, if it's our last roll they're tearing up.

Yeah, it just doesn't seem fall in the floor as much as it does over the roll. Or something. I know what I am trying to say, but just can't get it out. But, I am sure you get it.*S*

Oh, bohemianheart. If we were sharing the toilet, we'd be playing a game of changing how it's put on the holder everyday.

My goodness Bo, after this event you must be an absolute bundle of nerves today! I place the toilet paper so that the paper comes down OVER the roll as well. It must be a man thing and thank goodness I don't live in your house then! Take an organic valium and have a lay down.....

I prefer my paper going out over the top and down the front. The cat's don't care, they will distroy the roll just as easily either way.

*LOL* I don't have pets so I don't worry about that. I just have a son who uses a half roll at a time, I think. I go back in and turn the roll around if they put it on wrong, and I don't think they even notice.

Lol I like the whole under thing, over is annoying to me as well, but I live with as my fiance changes it back and I think my mother in law will do the same if she sees it like that. My fiance and I are the only ones that use that particularly bathroom most the time, save for the chihuahua shower, but yea...

Seems we are in the minority, SomeCowgirl. I don't guess it REALLY matters, as long as there is paper on the roll, though. *L* THAT annoys me even more.

I like it to be over the roll instead of behind the roll. or I will change it to the way I want it.. I figure that I use the bathroom a lot more. and needs it a lot more,, so it has to be my way!

*L* Louise, I think I have gotten to the point where I don't care, as long as whoever empties the darn thing replaces it.

lol i know exactly what you mean! whenever there is a horizontal roll dispenser in the house (currently only the papertowels are horizontal) i HAVE to have the paper coming over the Top of the roll..cant stand it from the bottom. in the bathroom the toilet paper holder thingy is vertical..and it MUST MUST MUST be put on so the roll turns Clockwise when you pull it ! LMAO! i also cant stand having bathroom towels folded differently..they all must be folded exactly as i was taught as a kid and i stomp and rave and make whomever folded them come back and re-do them properly!

Cinder, I did that one time with hubby. He was helping to fold laundry. I showed him twice how to fold them. I went into the linen closet, and there they were, all askew. I took them off the shelf, took them into the living room, and dumped them in the floor. He just looked at me wide eyed. I told him to fold them right, or leave them alone.(I must have been having a bad day, I usually accept his help with housework without being too terribly anal). My kids disappeared for about 3 hours.*L*

When we were first married for about the first 5 years of so I did care which way the toliet paper went on the roll. Now that we have been married for so long I don't care any more and well now I am just greatful that it gets changed. I don't know how many times I have went into use the restroom and well there would be no toliet paper left on the roll. That is more irritating then it being on there a certain way.

Yes, not having ANY on the roll is most definitely more irritating.......especially if you don' notice right away, and you are home alone!

To me it must come from the top of the roll, to come from the under side must seems backward to me. Now it sits on top the cabinet that holds all the brushes and makeup because it is high up and we have this cat and it doesn't matter how you put it on the roll, he shredds the whole roll. My hubby don't want it on the roller at all, and takes it off. He said hurts his back to reach across to get it. Well it should hurt him more to have to stand up to get it, it his cat. We can't shut the door as this is where the cat litter box is, can't let the cat out as someone would surely pick him up if they seen him wondering, so we put it on top or in one of the drawers so the cat can't get to it.

He said hurts his back to reach across to get it I have one of those holders that is free standing, so it can be pulled as close as needed. I kind of got tired of leaning that far over to reach the paper. That, and my son was always falling off the pot when he was little.*L* I know a few people who don't use the holders, for whatever reason. I think a couple of people have mentioned that in this discussion as well.

Sorry but mine has to go OVER the roll.. I can't stand it if it goes under the roll. It just looks better to me. I do that with my paper towels too.

Funny, I never thought about it, but when I had paper towels hanging, they were put on the holder the same way as the toilet paper.

Ok my reasons of why i like it over the top and maybe you have seen these waterbugs in Texas..well they like to climb walls and hide in the tp so if they are clinging to a tissue against the wall then they come with it and I'm no friend of them..so over the top for me where i can see whats coming...

Hi Bo, Unlike you, I like the paper over the roll. It's easier not to get too much. At least that's what I think. If it comes from the back, it's way to easy to get a lot at once. But like you said, we should be happy that they even replace it. My husband often doesn't. Fortunately we use separate bathrooms. leenie

I have two BR's in my house. One upstairs (mine) and one downstairs (everyone elses! LOL) Mine is over the top. prevents too much usage. Everybody elses is underneath and I notice that it hits the floor and mine never does. Sometimes when I go armed and ready to clean the downstairs one the TP is dragging on the floor. So I say this way is too much waste.

Huh, here it is just the opposite, too much comes off from the top. If I go in and it is over the top, it is usually hanging down to the floor, if it is under, it stays up next to the roll. It looks like most people agree with you, though.

I prefer for the toilet paper to be coming over the top but really I mean who cares. I guess lately I've been so busy worried about bigger things that I really haven't cared how the toilet paper is on the roll. In the whole scheme of life is that really what we are worried about? sometimes it seems like we all me included get so worried or aggrivated by the little things when we should be enjoying what we have in this life nd working to help others. sorry i got on a soap box but I am going to clen the house hppy mylotting....

Well, so far, there are more people who prefer it over than under. And, everyone has their own reasons for doing it the way they do.

Yes! My tp must feed from underneath the roll. It seems that I can tear off the amount I want much easier this way. And another thing, my cat notices the loose end if it's hanging from the front and I have tp all over the bathroom.

Yeah, I remember you telling me that one time. Before I put the hooks up in the bathroom, I could not make anybody understand why I wanted the towels trifolded and put on the shelf a certain way.....until one of them pulled a fresh towel off the shelf and the whole stack came down on the floor. People call me anal, I say it is just logical reasoning.*L*

Hey bo! Yes I do! I like the paper coming down over the roll! The oppostite way you like it! So if my bf puts it on the wrong way I change it too! But, now we have another problem entirely! My bf works at a college. He does the maintenance there. He has access to the toilet paper and has decided that he will save us some money by bringing some home with him. Now, the toilet paper rolls go into some sort of dispenser that doesn't have a hole in it. So now I have toilet paper roles with no holes! So, yes we can't put them on the roler. So when I have company over I either have to explain why the toilet paper is in a nice basket on top of the toilet or I just keep one on the roller! It's easier to make sure I still have ones from the store that have holes and can be put on the roller for guests. Me and bf will use the ones without the holes!

Well, then you don't have to worry about how it goes on the holder, right?*L* So far, it looks like more prefer it over the top.
